And zero if it's a pick up order. Is he wrong for this or is it fine?

No he's absolutely in the right. I don't see why these people should be tipped for simply doing their jobs. It's up to the company they work for to pay them properly

Why would you tip for a pick up order? :skull: Like where is the service?

Posted

In my country we don’t tip. :coffee2:
companies are supposed to pay their workers.

Your friend doesn’t believe in customers paying for things that employers should be providing :clap3:

I don't mind tipping, I'm not a bum or broke anymore :michael:

The company should be responsible for paying their employees fair wages. They can’t expect the customers to be doing that for them.

I always tip when I get food delivered to my house... but I don't do it very often. I still like to save money lol. I don't tip if I have to get the food myself... like I'm already paying for the food, be happy about that lol.

I hate that every single food place is doing this now, or asking to round up. Likeeeeee, ya'll have enough money to open up locations everywhere, but not enough to pay your employees a livable wage? gtfo

In principle I would agree, tipping culture just sucks and it’s getting more and more ridiculous. But the reality is tips are a major source of income for these workers. If you don’t want to participate then you should be boycotting the entire service.

I thought you weren't supposed to tip for pick up...

why the **** would anyone tip for a pick up? :deadbanana4:

I’m in CA and I already pay service fee, delivery fee, CA driver benefit… so I ain’t paying anything more than that :cm:

I’m sorry i don’t agree. The driver is doing YOU a huge favor doing the driving for YOU so you can eat at a convenience.

I understand everyone isn’t rich but you don’t get to use the platform then not tip. It’s disgusting.

If you can’t afford to tip well/correctly then stop being lazy & go get the food yourself.

For some people this is a force living under unfortunate circumstances & you wouldn’t want someone doing that to you or a love one in a desperate attempt of making Living.

Imagine not tipping the person who used their gas to bring you food because you were lazy.

1$??? Joke!!!!

The app should tell the drivers BEFORE picking up the food on how much the person tips so they can decide if they want to do it!

Never done food delivery but honestly that seems valid

lately I've only been tipping bartenders $1 when they the take 3 seconds to get me a $10 beer, etc.

Elsewhere, when those new iPad pay thingys prompt me to pay a tip I always SKIP .

I always tip 20% when eating at restaurants tho :heart2:

I'm poor so i only tip 10% of the order's total :chick3: i always tip tho

I tip at least 20% for delivery. I never tip if I carry out; that would literally defeat the whole purpose of me carrying out. I usually carry out specifically to save a couple bucks that would have otherwise been spent on a tip.

I agree with the common consensus here. If you don’t want to shell out for a tip, don’t order delivery. Nobody should be expected to tip on a pick-up order

At least he gives something. A $1 is a $1 they can take it or leave it

I Never tip for pick up lol

Once I had a friend doordash a pizza and she sent me to pick it up. I tipped zero (I didn’t feel right deciding what money to take out of a bank account that isn’t mine )

Anyway the delivery driver goes “can I ask you one question? Was my service not good enough? I don’t deserve anything for a tip?!!” and he started getting aggressive.

I got so pissed! The nerve this man had. It’s midnight on a Friday, you’ll make some more tips off other drunk kids! I was also scared a bit that I was going to get popped over a FRIEND’S pizza smh

No seriously what’s the consensus on these? I hate it when I order a coffee at my local coffee shop and the barista says “it’s just going to ask you a few questions” and it’s a tip thing on the iPad :biblio:

I click skip but I know I get judged for that every time because they stare you while you look at the screen.

I get it, inflation is tough but I could just go to Dunkin Donuts or McDonald’s and get a cheaper coffee without being asked to tip
