The remake was one of the few Disney remakes I actually liked, the movie was entertaining and well executed, it didn't feel like a quick cash grab like the other movies (although it was).

 

Now, Disney rarely does good sequels, the original Aladdin sequel wasn't that good, so it's fine to leave the remake like that, with no sequels.

It's pretty universally revered as the best (or one of) Disney live-action remakes.  You're genuinely the first person I've seen who has felt like this about it.

I thought it was fine but these live action remakes really don't need sequels. The Alice in Wonderland and Maleficent sequels tanked.
