I feel like if we looked at receipts, chart data, sales, etc. it would probably be Mariah, but I think Eminem’s hits will have more longevity and will be more remembered by the GP.

 

People will often tell you that Mariah has 18 or 19 billboard hot 100 #1’s, or whatever the number is.

 

As a pop culture stan who’s neurotically obsessed with female vocalists, I could only name like 2 or 3 of those. That’s not a good sign.

 

Mariah’s wildly successful and insanely talented, but much like Celine Dion, a lot of her hits came from the 90s, but stayed in the 90s, due to a minimalistic take on her videography.

 

Add the fact that straight people (men and women) have traditionally found liking male artists “cooler” and I think we’re left with the wider public knowing more of Eminem’s songs.

Mariah has more but Eminem has bigger ones due to their unmatched longevity. He debuted at the same time as Britney and Christina but he sold tons of digital singles and has many 1B songs on Spotify as if he was one of the current rappers.

Eminem's music is consumed more than all the popgirls (not named Taylor Swift ). Even his album tracks get massive streams. Mariah (except maybe on Xmas), Madonna and Bey combined don't come even come close to his catalog consumption.

really? there have been a dozen mariah hate threads over the past 3 days and she lost all of them. 

 

Christmas really made people lose their minds. The jealousy is unmatched and undeniable at this point. 

 

But what can we say. Us fans continue to devote our lives to Miss Mariah by enjoying her timeless music. <3
