This is very impressive, especially for the 6th entry in a series. I remember seeing Scream 4 and even 5's tracking start out strong, only to falter by debut weekend. To see this one hold up and even slightly outperform already high forecasts is very impressive.

$110M domestic should be locked.

Also that $22M overseas debut is very strong considering it didn't open everywhere.

The way they managed to keep the franchise cool and interesting after all these years is incredible. All the actors and directors deserve it! :jonny2:

Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that Neve wasn't in this movie, the fans and the GP are now invested in the new main characters.

Some franchises have failed because people never gave a sh*t about the new characters + the movies were bad (Halloween new trilogy, Star Wars sequel trilogy)

The Scream franchise is in good hands, we are so lucky.

Jenna was the star of 5, but Melissa really stepped it up and outshined in 6. :clap3:

Imagine lying this hard.

I fear my sis Neve just shot herself in the foot cause she has no negotiating leverage now.

Yeah Neve should be concerned to say the least. This opening and the great reception absolutely proves that she is NOT as vital as she thought she was to this film.

They addressed her character in the perfect way in Scream VI and honestly, the throw-away lines they used could have just as well been excluded.

The fact that a 25+ year old franchise is still smashing with a 42% 18-24 age share :jonny: Scream has officially crossed over onto the next generation.

Neve must be fuming, I wonder if she’ll get the call to come back at all :rip:

The best sequel WON  Jenna WON

Neve really shot herself in the foot thinking that her backing out would somehow cost the studio when in reality it did nothing but make some fans upset and box office numbers to soar.

And with Gale’s line about Sidney it’s safe to say she is not coming back in 7, not that she’s needed anyway. New blood won.

I’m just so over the moon. I mean a twenty five year old slasher franchise that’s been able to remain relevant and reinvent itself time and time again is such an impressive legacy. I can’t believe my favorite franchise is still going strong

That being said, I do think they should green light 7 publicly, film and release it then take an extended break.
