Are you ok? They literally state in the OP that when looking at only organisations that have awarded both films EEAAO still has won more. It's not just a random collection of 45 associations...

Austin film Critics association in 2004 : only top 10 list of the year. The return of the king won an award

 

Austin film critics association since 2005: they have more categories than the Oscar. Everything won 9 awards.

 

So yes is a fair comparison.
