tiagol88 Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 One had like 9 seasons...the other one had 8 episodes Let's wait a few seasons, lmao.
Bears01 Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 I used to Love the Walking dead But in hindsight: these last 8 episodes of TLOU have been better than anything TWD ever made, outside of the Terminus plot, The final prison battle episode, and S1.
Leptine Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 It's too early to say, it has no sense comparing a new show that its first season is not even finished yet with one with 11 seasons. 'The Last of Us' started amazing and it's a continue growing reaching new highs, but we'll see if they will manage to keep this level for the next seasons, it's easily getting lost with this kind of show-plot. 'The Walking Dead' has managed to remain solid for several seasons and years before collapsing and becoming boring-repetitive.
Cameltoe Chariot Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 Anyone who's played the games knows The Last Of Us Part II is even better than the first and has enough content for two seasons. If you think season 1 has been great just wait... this show will go down in history as a masterpiece of the genre.
Dystopian Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 the walking dead will always have a place in my heart as the first tv show i got invested in, but the last of us blows any season of the walking dead out of the water and it has a better chance at staying consistently great. it's going to be a complete story with no loose ends.
M!X Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 can anyone who watched both confirm if TWD has a moment that comes even close to 1x03 of TLOU, because I bet that alone beats those 100+ filler/pointless episodes I heard TWD had from people who endured the entire show
Wrecked Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 The Last of Us. The game has been adapted faithfully so far and Part II is incredible, so I can say with confidence that both the video game and the show are stronger. I do also love the first few seasons of TWD.
X~MoviePoP Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 The walking dead first 5 seasons are better than all of the last of us
kweenofxanax Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) Both are phenomenal shows. I grew up watching TWD and yeah it petered out unfortunately (though I liked some of the recent seasons, have yet to seen the final season). Both have incredible moments. The way TLOU handles its characters and weaves its stories in one tight, neat package is a lot more effective and profound while TWD sometimes feels a little contrived and ‘fake deep’ tbh; I will say when they get it right, it’s really RIGHT, just perfect. The latter suffers a lot from the amount of episodes per season + characters they tap in/out. I do think TWD has a lot of amazing, jaw-dropping moments that can’t be counted out. (Eg. Rick using his mouth to rip out that man’s ear/neck whatever ) Edited March 10, 2023 by kweenofxanax
Pacify Him Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 TLoU has lgbt representation early on. TWD barely has any scene. Jesus and the other guy also had a romance behind the scenes and we never got to see it

Zoe_ Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 Both had me crying like it was my last day on Earth.

commander Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 TLOU is far better. TWD relies heavily on shock value and gory scenes. TLoU is more about character development and exploration of moral grayness coupled with high-end cinematography.
Wrecked Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 8 hours ago, Wizard said: 1x03 was cute but nothing groundbreaking the way critics called it the best episode of any tv show in history before it aired The way they didn’t though? It was called ONE OF the best episodes of television. Which I’d personally agree with. If I had to list some of the best episodes of television shows, that would be on there.
Specter Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 Early seasons of TWD EASILY outclass TLOU. TLOU is very good though but thus far it's just in the "great till it runs" territory. Where TLoU as a show will end up will depend on S2 and S3, which are both supposed to be on Part II. Now personally I think this is a mistake, I think they should cover it in one season with more episodes - the narrative choice that made some (non-bigoted) people dislike TLoU II would work much, much better in the TV format, and hell I would argue S1 is laying ground for that already. I don't mean to exaggerate especially since I hate what happened to the show after the first few seasons, but really TWD was a cultural phenomenon up there with the BIGGEST shows of all time. The ratings, acclaim, and cult following prove this. Currently the spectacle around TLoU centers around a) the fact that ND broke the video game adaptation curse (and as a longtime gamer I ASSURE you this is to be celebrated, alongside Edgerunners and Arkane) and b) fans of the game hyping it up (understandably). This does not take away from it being a very good show across objective metrics (acting, cinematography etc.) but this could be short lived.

TLOU already has it beat in that department as their first season has a 96% rating. TLOU is also receiving viewership in its first season that TWD didn’t start to get until the backend of its second season. As it stands, TLOU is off to a stronger start than TWD, whether it continues to grow is something we’ll see with future seasons, but if we were to compare just the first seasons of both shows, TLOU is outperforming. The game series TLOU is based on, is also a lot bigger and more culturally relevant than TWD comics were. So when you look at everything objectively, TLOU has more things in its favour.
Wrecked Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) The Walking Dead S1 RT - 87% Highest viewership - 5.97 million The Last of Us S1 RT - 96% Highest viewership - 8.1 million The finale of TLOU airs on Sunday so that could potentially grow even higher in the viewership. As of now, TLOU is performing better than TWD did during their first season. Edited March 10, 2023 by Wrecked

Come on now. This would be like me cherry picking IMDB episode scores about no episode in the first season of TWD dropping to 8.0 or below. You're also making a viewership comparison when if you look at it objectively, you will see that TWD was going up and succeeding against major TELEVISED events. The landscape has vastly changed now. The standing of the games have little relevance here because you said it yourself - TWD comics. The TWD games that have come out have a niche cult following at best, and they came well after the peak. There are multiple TWD games that spawned after the show, of which the biggest games are probably TellTales'. If anything, that the TWD comics (which were nowhere as big as the games because that...obviously is the case) were smaller in comparison to the almost 1.5 decade long, multi-million established IP that TLOU makes TWD look all that more impressive, no? Agree with the rest.
