Is “The Last of Us” trending towards being an all time great level TV series?

people really expect this to be the walking dead 

the infected weren't the main focus of the game either, it was always about the story of ellie and joel. the show is giving more background to the side characters and the times they do show the clickers it's still apparent that they're a big threat.

The walking dead was fantastic for about 4-5 seasons but it seriously got stale.

Its a solid 8 for me. I needed way more action but the acting is TOP notch and Daddy Pedro just does it for me every week.

Just finished episodes 3 and 4 and wow, that made the story more interesting. Episode 3 is the best. Brought I and my partner to tears.

It's a great show and I watch every week but it's just OK. Been done before for sure, I guess we've collectively lowered our standards when it comes to the media we consume.

I know it’s only 1 season so far, but given the insane popularity and acclaim, If the show continues on the same trajectory, will it be in the conversation as an all time great tv series? 

As someone that played the games, I was going to binge watch them in one go - rather than wait for each episode, but I'm very tempted to watch it now.

Haven't watched it yet, but let's not forget 4 seasons in, The Game of Thrones was the best thing since sliced bread, but then it all went downhill from there

You have some of the weirdest takes on this site. The Last of Us is one of the most beloved and acclaimed game series of all time. It came out in 2013 and people are still absolutely hooked on it, which is evident by the fact the ratings for the show are rising each week. 
 

I can tell by this comment that you’ve never played the game or watched the show as you definitely wouldn’t be calling it a fad. 
 

This will be 100% regarded as one of the best shows of all time, as long as they stick the landing when adapting Part II (which I think is even stronger than Part I) - but the fact the original creator is involved makes me extremely hopeful as they’ve done a fantastic job so far and Bella and Pedro have both been nailing it. 
 

You’ll obviously get people who’ll disagree but some people just like to hate on things that are popular as they like to be ‘edgy’ but The Last of Us is and will always be that *****.

The difference is, Game of Thrones deviated from the source material. The Last of Us is closely following what’s already been made. The creators have already said they won’t be extending past the games.
