I would say Beyonce is 2000s. Destiny's Child were a non factor in the 90s and Beyonce was not internationally famous until her solo debut in 2003.

Beyonce was not a huge global star until "Crazy in Love", that is a stone cold fact. I was there and I remember.

As a solo artist she did not. DC were one hit wonders local to America in the 90s. A non factor. Prior to Crazy in Love, Beyonce was C-list at best.

MrLovett is correct Protocol, I wasn't here to argue about which decade/era they became big that's why Karol G is in the 2000s and so is Shakira in the 90s despite a majority of their global breakouts being in the 2010s and 2000s respectively.

 

Beyonce debuted in the industry during 1997, that is the fact that I'm using. The point is these are women who entered the industry across nearly 40 years all still healthily competing on the charts, ageism is finally being rewritten and hopefully erased!

Payola is largely responsible for at least 2. My money is on #2 and #10. 10 million streams, 2K sold. This one smells weird.

That's not the topic. But Beyonce was very much a factor as DC charted international hits over other groups such as TLC and even Nsync. They technically released before Britney.

Anytime MJ is given a tribute Jackson 5 is almost always and often mentioned and covered by other artists. Same with Diana and Paul.

Yawn. Seethe over Beyonce getting yet another top 10 in the 4th decade of her career. Plenty of girlies have radio and can barely break into the top 40.

 

Funny how radio is a problem the second Beyonce starts bagging hits outside of the George Bush Administration. It was all fun and games while it lasted.
