The one that released the best-selling greatest hits album of all time in 1990 :giraffe:

To be fair, greatest hits albums fell off long before Gaga came into the scene (the last smash GH albums was by Britney Spears in 2005)

How is this even a comparison??? Insecure? Jealousy? Why dont yall compare her with her peers?

Madonna classic isn’t as big as her stan want us to believe :toofunny3:

Compared to her peers, she had no billion (youtube or spotify) song like majority of her peers have.
The definition of classic is being remembered years later and that can be proven by current STAT.

She does get compared to her peers. It's the Monsters that constantly try to elevate Gaga up to the same level as Madonna, because they want Gaga to have as much success and longevity, but it's never going to happen.

Why would we be jealous of someone less successful? We didn't make this thread, the OP is a Monster. :rip:

Madonna's classics ARE remembered, and they're much bigger than you're prepared to give credit for, and Spotify won't change that,

The fact Whitney and Michael's biggest songs are on hundreds of playlists / various compilations (many now on Spotify) as opposed to Madonna's is exactly why their doing much better.

Never heard a single Madonna song ever before joining this site.

Does she even have a single song above 500M streams on Spotify? She's clearly a forgotten fad from ancient times. So Gaga easily. Poker face, Bad Romance and Shallow are infinitely bigger than all of Madonna's forgotten hits

Her streaming numbers are absymal :deadbanana2: no one cares or remembers msdonna outside of pensioner gays, MadonnaNation, and on this site where her memory is kept alive with those UK chart threads that favour greatest hits records :toofunny2:. The way OGH’d dupes are coming in to say ‘is this fair on Gaga’ when in the real world their fave is forgotten. So out of touch :dies: Shallow, Poker Face, Alejandro alone >>>>

Wasn't Frozen released 16 years into Madonna's career?

Gaga has Just Dance, Poker Face, Paparazzi, Bad Romance, Born This Way, Shallow, and Always Remember Us This Way.

Imagine claiming songs like Paparazzi, BTW and ARUTW classics yet saying that Papa Don't Preach isn't. :deadbanana2:

Madonna has already out-grossed your fave's last tour by x2-x3 and she hasn't set foot on stage yet. :swan:

You can always pretend her debut album as her GH album. I mean, all her hits are there.

:bibliahh: Looks like the lunatics in the asylum have found a laptop or phone again.

"nO oNE bUT pENsIOnEr gAyS rEmeMBeR oR cARe aBoUT mADoNna" and yet she's already outgrossed your faves latest tour.

I wonder what that tell us about Gaga.

Madonna SWEETIE

gaga has no classics after 2011 outside of shallow, madonna clears

Her albums from 1983-86 outsold Gaga's entire career. Madonna has more hits in the 80s (84-89 = 5 years) alone than Gaga did in 15 years.

Are you serious?

Material Girl is a classic, Papa Don't Preach isn't.

There’s no way … :bibliahh:

Madonna

- Like A Virgin

- Material Girl

- Like a Prayer

- La Isla Bonita

- Vogue

Gaga

- Just Dance

- Poker Face

- Bad Romance

- Born This Way

- Shallow

These are for sure classics. Madonna could potentially have more with HolidayPapa Don't Preach and Into the Groove but they arent for sure as strong as the ones mentioned above. ARUTW is also shaping up to be another classic for Gaga, but overall I'd say, Madonna wins.

This is so ******* stupid.

i wonder how Gagas streaming numbers would look like if her career had started decades before the streaming era even began :rip:

Or the opposite. Imagine how great madonnas streaming numbers would look like if streaming had started in like 1989.

Most of madonnas songs on her top 10 most listened hits on Spotify were released decades ago, are a part of albums that sold millions of copies, and their singles sold millions of copies. There’s a reason no female artist that debuted before Madonna has more streaming numbers currently.

Imagine using Spotify as the only metric specially for Gaga whose career started like 4 years before streaming began and erasing Madonnas chartruns and actual sales to deny her her flowers because her Spotify numbers aren’t the best. Good for Gaga and her team for caring about algorithms and playlists throughout the years. There was a time her streaming numbers were abysmal as well. Madonna is working on it…as we speak.

2 years ago she could barely hit 16M monthly listeners and now she’s surpassing 24M.

Does that mean she suddenly got more remembered? You guys know nothing about how this even work lmao

Going through the thread I see a lot of people are bringing up Borderline and Lucky Star as classics?! Out of all Madonna songs? Please be serious :skull:

Hung Up and Into the Groove were huge back then. They do feel like classics today to me. You can make a case for Holiday and Frozen. Papa Don't Preach seems on par with some of her other hits from the same era so I would'nt count it.

I mean Madge has more hits but gagas hits are better imo

edit: except frozen and whole rol era gaga can’t touch that yet
