• Brandy was the bigger entertainment figure but Monica was the bigger crossover artist - radio and chartwise. 
 

• Brandy sold more albums but Monica had far more hit singles. 
 

• Brandy had a #1 network television show (Moesha), a #1 Hot 100 single (The Boy Is Mine), a #2 box office film (I Still Know What You Did Last Summer) and a #2 peaking BB200 album all in the same year - 1998. 
 

- Monica spent 22 weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 between June 1998-April 1999 and was ranked the second biggest female artist of 1998, behind Shania Twain, by Billboard.

 

They were the definition of apples and oranges.

Yes. Monica also had insane longevity, So Gone hitting top 10 in 2003 and being a streaming classic (Brandy's last top 40 year end hit was in the 90s ) and having a #2 album in the 2010s with Still Standing and another #1 R&B song with Everything to Me

 

Also Monica's 1-2-3 punch with "The Boy Is Mine" - "The First Night" - "Angel of Mine" and she wasn't even 19 was insane
