I can see the comparison since they have the same strenghts and flaws - my vote is for Hilary though.

My past self wants to say Hilary. She’s the OG and paved the way for Disney shows & future stars like Selena with Lizzie McGuire and Disney channel music. 
 

But if I were to answer today on who has more talent… I’d choose Selena for her consistency. Hilary loses points due to her laziness

Hilary isn’t as lazy anymore 

Hilary has better stage presence as an actress and has better music; Dignity alone clears by miles 

Hilary, she's can sing 

With Love, Come Clean and the Breathe In. Breathe Out album are all really good, but the When The Sun Goes Down album alone clears Hilary.

Selena could never, I repeat, NEVER make an album as good as Dignity (a Hilary penned album btw)…

Well Selena’s just won last night a Satellite Award for her acting on OMITB and she’s in fact translated into a mainstream hitmaker after the end of the Disney contract. So her.

To Hilary's credit, she was at least heavily involved with 2 of her albums, with the lyrics of Dignity being written almost entirely by her. That alone puts her above Selena for me, not to mention that Dignity clears every Selena album with ease.

Selena, I mean just compare both of their current shows.
