I don't understand why she hasn't released a follow-up album yet. She's had two number one singles not tied to a project and releases music very sparingly. I know she got pregnant and all that but there are plenty of artists who release music while pregnant.

Yeah, I was bothered but that also. She had 2 no. 1s in 2020 but she did not capitalize that situation. A very du*b move :rip:

Weird barb upload of the receipts but it sparked a discussion in the hip hop community and is pretty much common knowledge.

…an independent artist buying a slot in a radio playlist ≠ payola 💀

Paying for plays is the literal dictionary definition of payola and is illegal. A quick google search could have it laid that out for you. :rip:

Say you don’t know how radio works without saying you don’t know how radio works :rip:

Record labels usually make a deal with radios when a song is picked as a single, that “deal” involves money to reserve a slot on the playlist, hence why radio don’t just play any song 💀

Independent artists don’t have record labels so they pay for it…independently.

“Payola” is when the song is played on rotation (more often than usual).:giraffe:

With the right single she’ll continue to smash + she still has good will from Invasion of Privacy, people will at least want to check the album out. If CB2 is lackluster then yeh she’s “over”

The way she never released the album after WAP though :rip: she could have had an amazing CB2 rollout off of that.

Cardi better than any other female rapper so no  she’s not over. Her song with glorilla is a smash

This is incorrect.

The answer depends on the quality of her album. If CB2 is good then it will smash hard. If it's bad, it will be crickets after the first week. Through her strong personality branding she has remained relevant for 5 years with very little material out. Impressive.

If ATRL says she is over, that probably means she's about to smash hard :rip: That's been happening very often lately

Maybe she's hoping for a sza trajectory

Tbh I think both of them are waiting for the other to announce and that’s what’s taking so long. They probably want to drop albums at the same time to decide who’s really the Queen of Rap yet at the same time it’s delaying the actual album for both Barbz and Bardi Gang.

Barely any talent, not a musical bone in her body, violent criminal, openly admits to payola, stopped caring once she made her bag and got her social media followers, etc, etc

This.

She’s just a glorified influencer at this point.

she just doesn't make the same impact anymore. even at the Met Gala, i feel like she was just another guest. and now the Walmart+ commercial... help. she fell off hard

She can def come back strong if she releases the right thing but if it’s another Up or Hot Sht than yea no

They do this all the time.

After Press flopped, they said Cardi was over and then she came back with WAP and UP, Cardi's stats are still bigger and better than her peers and that's really all that matters. Even though, Hot Sh*t was a massive misstep.

Getting a brand deal with one of the largest (if not the largest) retail corporations of America without putting out an album in five-six years is the definition of impact. :toofunny3:
