I am a Christian with same sex attraction and I fully believe I will go to heaven without a doubt. My eternity with God is guaranteed. I abide in God’s word and pray each day. I believe that Jesus is God and Lord over all creation. If anyone is genuinely seeking a relationship with God and is interested in reading scripture for the first time or has questions, feel free to DM me. I will say that no one should feel compelled to believe in God out of fear or fear of going to hell. The Bible never once says our belief in God should be motivated by fear but through trust, love, and the desire to know God on an intimate level to be in a relationship with him. Heaven also isn’t a place where you get everything you want (from a materialistic standpoint). It’s a place where God’s presence is ultimately what you treasure most and who you want to spend all of eternity with. Hell was not created for humans. It was made for the fallen angels who rejected God. As humans, we too, have our own choice. God will always and faithfully pursue us, but we have the choice to not pursue him. A good question to ask is if your impression of God is truly the real God? I didn’t become a Christian until 2017. After spending years reading the Bible I realized I grew up mischaracterizing God based on the bad examples I saw around me and believing the negative opinions from people who cherry picked verses as truth about God. My whole entire view of God was formed by other people’s bad example of Christianity (people who were culturally Christian but not actually followers of Jesus), misconceptions (lack of understanding the scriptures), and hateful/intolerant attitudes in the world. None of those experiences were truthful about God’s character. I decided I want God, NOT my idea of God. Since then God has answered hundreds of prayers of mine once I opened up my heart to truly know him. Your heart can’t receive what it rejects. Just like nobody can force you into loving them or having a relationship with them. Edited February 28, 2023 by Buffy

And you said that like you’re not capable to love if you don’t believe in god or something
JoeAg Posted February 28, 2023 Posted February 28, 2023 (edited) i know it’s a simple truth but for some reason it’s a hard pill to swallow… people can adhere to certain aspects of their religion while critiquing other parts. for example, i grew up jewish and i still consider myself culturally jewish. i observe Passover, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Hanukkah ONLY. i also condemn ritual circumcision and think there’s a lot of crazy, antiquated sh*t in the Torah. however, i would like my kid(s) to be b’nai mitzvot because i was and it was a fascinating learning experience and good pracrice of public speaking/memorization/musical skills (which are good skills). so ya i have a complicated relationship with religion but i think that’s a legitimate thing to have. especially if you grew up queer in a religious household. i was fortunate that my relatively religious household was still progressive/open-minded Edited February 28, 2023 by JoeAg
Bentley Posted March 1, 2023 Author Posted March 1, 2023 I was bestfriends with my mom before I came out and now even though she says she still loves me continues to remind me daily that I’m going to rot in hell if I choose this lifestyle

If you read the bible fro start to finish it's a book the evolves with the time the books that are in it are written. In Genesis God blessed Abraham and Sarah marriage and they are half brother and sister. Then in the later half of the bible it condemns incest. Slavery was fine and oppressing women was fine. The problem with the bible is that it stopped being a living book. It ended. The morals that we have today are not in the book. I don't think that is what the original writers or God intended. No I don't think gays are going to hell. Plus hell is a place that is totally absent from the Hebrew Bible and more ancient texts that allow to build Christianity. It's place in Christian theology feels more like a later addition. Purgatory was for instance added very later and so on. As for "abominations" named in the Bible well... Very little people could enter Heaven if we list them all.
