i'm surprised Since U Been Gone is so low

Its MV is more memorable than the average KC mv so that helps

 

 

also Because of You is a smash in its own right and is maybe more timeless than the other songs. Dont get me wrong I love all of Breakaway but those songs are very 00s

People love themselves a sobby ballad. It’s the type of song 14 year olds cry to and think applies to them and their broken relationship that lasted two weeks lol

It’s honestly the only single that was global. The others were big in Anglo countries but that’s about it. It’s still one of the best ballads of all time for sure 

Now that I think about it BOY was huge in LatAm, it was all the time on the radio here in Mexico

I agree with Because Of You being a global smash. But the others were big hits too in different places, although not as gigantic as Because Of You was.

It's more global, on Spotify Because of You and SUBG have around the same amount of streams

Because of You was a certified smash in LATAM so that's why

Breakaway and ESPECIALLY Because of You were big smash hits in Mainland Europe, so I am not surprised. A global smasha  the fact her record label didn't even believe in this song hence why it was only released as 4th single

Actually, yes 

it's her biggest single of all time

 

it has 7 million pure sales globally, which was a huge accomplishment for a single released during the pre-digital or radio era, not to mention it was already the 4th/5th single.
