COVID came from lab leak, according to the US department of Energy

The U.S. Energy Department has concluded that the Covid pandemic most likely arose from a laboratory leak, according to a classified intelligence report recently provided to the White House and key members of Congress.
The shift by the Energy Department, which previously was undecided on how the virus emerged, is noted in an update to a 2021 document by Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines’s office.
The new report highlights how different parts of the intelligence community have arrived at disparate judgments about the pandemic’s origin. The Energy Department now joins the Federal Bureau of Investigation in saying the virus likely spread via a mishap at a Chinese laboratory. Four other agencies, along with a national intelligence panel, still judge that it was likely the result of a natural transmission, and two are undecided.
The Energy Department’s conclusion is the result of new intelligence and is significant because the agency has considerable scientific expertise and oversees a network of U.S. national laboratories, some of which conduct advanced biological research.
The Energy Department made its judgment with “low confidence,” according to people who have read the classified report.
The FBI previously came to the conclusion that the pandemic was likely the result of a lab leak in 2021 with “moderate confidence” and still holds to this view.
The FBI employs a cadre of microbiologists, immunologists and other scientists and is supported by the National Bioforensic Analysis Center, which was established at Fort Detrick, Md., in 2004 to analyze anthrax and other possible biological threats.

So, it didn’t start in Wuhan is what they’re saying?

I’ve seen multiple articles about it having started in Europe, South-America etc.

Anyway, moving on…

Yawn.

this is the most likely case tbh but it just makes me anxious... think of all the powerful virus there must be in labs around the world:duca:

Didn't bubonic plague also come from Central China? :skull: Pandemics are natural and happened before and will happen again. But the fact that the lab is in Wuhan...

"Low confidence" sounds like a very educated guess. Which is more credible than being unsure, but it's still a guess.

The fact that millions of people died but the CPC is still blocking investigation :biblio:

With them helping Russia kill innocent Ukrainians, they are truly evil.

The irony of the US investigating a pandemic they planted.

An opinion no government, ally or enemy of the US or China have, but go off?

@OP Low and medium confidence which means they aren’t confident, but the fact that the Chinese government would not let the UN conduct proper investigations is still extremely sus.  Regardless, however this virus came about, it’s thankfully on the decline and both the Chinese and Americans can hopefully put this behind them and focus on things like ending Russia’s war in Ukraine and climate change.

This has pissed me off cause my uncle just died from covid and we all caught it at his funeral. It’s so ******. I literally have had heart issues out of nowhere since getting the virus and I’m asthmatic too. Like, my entire life has been destroyed by this **** and I’ve been avoiding it for YEARS. It’s so ******.

The CPC will not allow an independent investigation so there is no other choice to believe.

So sorry to hear that. In which country do you live? because your government failed you.

If only China would conduct their own investigation given its where the outbreak likely started

I just want to know why the ******* Department of Energy, of all bodies, has to take an official stance on this :deadbanana4:

Their focus is almost entirely on energy policy and nuclear weapons :deadbanana4:

This conclusion from the DoE is about as relevant to the issue as if the Department of Transportation were to do it :deadbanana4:

UK. Trash government. To be fair, it’s my fault, I shouldn’t have gone to the funeral. I regret it. Should have attended remotely. It’s ******* destroyed my brain and senses. It’s not “just a flu”. It’s so ******. I’ve been dodging this virus for 3 YEARS by working from home and now I’m ****** with long covid. It’s no joke. Peoples lives are impaired and destroyed irreversibly by these things.

They did, including how to prevent it, but most of our governments prioritized profits instead of their advie :!ohno:
