Selena has at least one hit each year ever since her debut

Featured Replies

Despite being called talentless singer, but SG has managed to get a hit every single year ever since her debut (2009):

1. Naturally (2009) - Peaked within top 30 and was pretty successful, let her name be known outside Disney fanbase.
2. Round & Round (2010) - Peaked at 25, a good position at the time.

3. Love you like a love song (2011)- Her biggest hit at the time. I think this song was a major push for her to go fully solo. The song was very successful in Asia as well.
4. 2012 was the only one I can’t think of her any hits.

5. Come & Get it (2013) - her first top 10 single and really made her a pop star, she won a Vma for the song as well, which was still a thing then.

6. The heart wants what it wants (2014) - Another top 10 hit, her iconic ballad song.
7. Strings of hits (2015): I want you to know, Good For You, Same Old Love. The latter two are her biggest solo song of all time I think.

8. Hands to myself (2016): High peak, acclaimed, many refer this as her best pop song.
9. 2017 has many hits as well: It Aint Me, Wolves performed very well, especially internationally. Her droplets performed moderately well.
10. Taki taki (2018)- a major internationally successful song. No solo music project but still managed to have a hit as a feature.
11. Lose you to love me (2019)- her first song to reach the summit of BBH100. One of her best and most known song marking her first decade of success as a singer.
12. Ice cream (2020) - no new solo music projects, an abandoned album, she still got a hit with Black Pink. The song still holds biggest Youtube debut for female collaborations.
13. Baila Conmigo (2021) - a decent hit in its intended countries. Belongs to a project that got her the first Grammy nom.
14. Despite only actively working in TV series and her beauty company, she still has a feature on a hugely successful song - Calm Down, which top the BB Global 200, amassed already nearly 500m streams.

I think even she doesn’t have a great voice, but her musical career has been quite remarkable, and real example of how a pop star does not rely on vocals, yet the whole package: visual, song choices. If SG3 manages to produce a hit, I think she deserves to bé recognized as one of the most successful pop star of her generation who has the heights and longevity.

how does this correlate to her having a talent?

So the thread title is inaccurate?

I believe Love You like a Love Song peaked in early 2012 and Who Says was a moderate hit in 2011 so the OP didn't lie :eli:

that's because of star power, talent and good listenable and relatable music. having a listenable studio vocals is a talent

not everyone wants someone screeching, screaming and sounding like a dying rat belting every 2 seconds on their ears

:rip:  I guess we can start calling many other nonevents "hits"

what are the non-event songs in this list for you? :foxaylove2:

Yeah Back To You was also a radio smash and peaked top 5 in Australia, Canada and top 10 on other European and Asian official charts, Fetish did great at itunes by the time it wasn't dead outsold Sorry not Sorry and Despacito that were smashing on the platform

She honestly always does well. ATRL exaggerates with the whole “people don’t stream her music even though she’s the most followed on IG.” She has multiple songs over 1 billion on Spotify. And it’s not even like the DJs completely carry it because they have so many flops with other high profile artists

Thread title is inaccurate and her hitmaking ability has zero correlation with her talent given she already has zero talent.
