haven't listened in ages but would sing it word by word if I play it, one of her best leads and the last quality album she made

still remember the announcement/reveal of both the song and album and their covers, the hype and clues, what an era that was

This was originally one of my faves, Pia Toscano's song. She got dropped though and the song was passed on. Wish her full version would leak.

When you say ''she got dropped'', do you mean dropped from her label or something else ?

 

BTW, I wasn't aware of that anecdote about the song. I just checked a live rendition of Pia's version and one of the comments basically said something similar to what you wrote in the previous post.

 

She originally sung the track but apparently her agents were the ones that didn't believe ''Heart Attack'' could be a hit or something like that... That's what I gathered from the YT reply.

Pia was signed to Interscope after American Idol, and released one single, "This Time". At the time she had also recorded "Heart Attack" and was hoping to release that as the second single. But since the debut single didn't do much, she never released another song. I don't know what exactly happened behind the scenes, but things didn't work out and she parted ways with the label. Heart Attack was passed on to Demi after that. Pia says that her vocals are still part of the background vocals on Demi's version. She also shared her version before through Instagram stories, but not sure if anyone ever saved that.
