Along with some of her own money, it includes the proceeds from a photographic book she produced after a visit to the continent in 2019 with the Antarctica New Zealand Community Engagement Programme. While there, she visited scientists in the field, learnt about Antarctica’s role in the global earth system and the impact climate change is having.

In 2019, the singer visited Antarctica with the Antarctica New Zealand community engagement programme, and on her return home produced a book of photographs of her experience. Lorde has donated all of the book’s proceeds, along with her own money, to fund the scholarships, which are in her own name – the Ella Yelich-O’Connor Antarctic Doctoral Scholarship.

Antarctica New Zealand chief executive Sarah Williamson said she was grateful for the donation:

“It’s critical that we continue to support new scientists in this important area of research. New Zealand’s Antarctic scientists are world-leading, and scholarships like this ensure we attract the best minds to help solve some of the planet’s most difficult questions” she says.

Do your favourite artists contribute to climate change research programs?

She donated the proceeds from that empty "Music Box" packaging she sold to her fans for $30 a pop. :clap3:

Considering her networth is $16M, this is a very large amount for a celebrity to donate

she once gave an interview talking about how she has more money than she could spend in her lifetime so she doesn’t really care about commercial success anymore. i’m sure she didn’t think twice about being generous with this donation, especially given how involved she became with this program

Glad to hear the money I paid for her upcoming tour is going towards research that will save the world :clap3:

A better use of her time would be convincing her old pal Taylor to stop flying in her jet over the Atlantic Ocean twice a week :clap3:
