All these R&B leaning tracks with her hypersexual image is hurting her chances of establishing a fanbase ntm her collaborating with Chris Brown whom repulse the female and gay fanbase she was starting to build.

 

She's always doing WAYYY too much vocally, its giving Jessie J. What made Beyonce work was that she knew when to just let the melody and instrumental do the heavy lifting to create a pop bop but Chloe just oversings frankly I hate her discography so far outside of Have Mercy.

 

Had she gone the hip-pop route of Have Mercy (which worked because she let the BEAT and the melody carry the song, she didn't oversing at all), a chanty, slightly rap vocal esque approach to pop music I could see her becoming a behemoth. Follow Have Mercy with a rip off of Tinashe's discography she would be smashing now, add a Calvin Harris or Zedd collab endearing her to the global audience, doubling down on the R&B market which didn't like her in the first place was a crippling decision.

The Ungodly Hour (album) lane was where she should've remained. Even when they worked with Disclosure, it still sounded authentically CxH.

I actually feel like her music needed to be MORE bombastic and she should’ve leaned more into bounce/experimental. Maybe more Bree Runway lane than Tinashe.
 

I feel like her trying to do commercial R&B/pop hybrid has not suited her sound and she feels more boxed in. Treat Me has grown on me more since release because it’s just unapologetically LOUD. She wants you to sing it ******* louder. So she should be on more high-octane songs IMO.

She had no business going solo honesty. She should just taken a break especially since most album cycles takes two years inbetween albums.

No. RnB + "hypersexual" as OP puts it can work, in fact any genre + hypersexual  can work if the music is good. A diff genre is not the answer. Have some respect for RnB.

She isn’t a sell out. She should do  either a pop/r&b crossover like Ariana or do gender less music like Doja.

I agree with this. I loved Have Mercy and Treat Me, they are just such energetic and dynamic songs, but her recent material absolutely pales in comparison. It’s so unenthusiastic, she should’ve sticked with her original sound instead of scrapping those songs. It’s kinda made me lose all interest in her because the new stuff just completely lacks that spark

The bottom line is that she wasn't ready to go solo, she lacks the needed level of star power, fanbase and artistic instincts.

Well i agree in a way. But really I feel like this is really what she wants to do so its really up in the air. She's still young tho so finding an avenue of success is still open to her.

The issue with Chloe is that the music isn't good and to make things even more difficult for her, she's coming from a duo that delivered great music so there's always going to have a comparison between CXH and her subpar solo material. Fans are not happy and the songs aren't bringing new fans to her either.

Chloe needs to be in the Pop-R&B lane like Ungodly Hour instead of trying to be a Main Urban Girl (for lack of a better term). The urban girls that are popping right now are leaning a lot into the confessional/diary entry style of writing instead of releasing full octane bops or vocally demanding ballads . Those girls are songwriters first and everything else second. These days, the urban bops are more likely to come from female rappers than female R&B artists. 
 

 

Chloe doesn’t have the ethos to pull off a lyrically-driven song about her ain’t **** man or about how she’s toxic. She’s a performer at heart and needs to be in a subgenre that rewards that, instead of trying to get put on a “chill r&b vibes” playlist or convincing people the era of Empire music is still alive and well.
