Zachary Levi's Shazam 2 tracking for one of the worst openings in DCEU history

Everything is just so disappointing. I actually really enjoyed the first film. I thought it was the perfect blend of innocuous fun with, for the most part, well executed superhero film tropes. But between the constant delays, Zachary turning into an absolute a**hat, and the lackluster box office predictions I honestly can't see anything saving this. Which is such a shame because I really think they could have carved out a nice semi-niche fanbase for these characters, and not to mention the sheer amount of talent they've packed into this movie that is most likely going to waste.

I'll still be seeing it, but my excitement is pretty much non-existent now.

The first one was entertaining, but honestly the problem with the sequel is that it looks generic, dumb and soulless and they even created new villains when they had tons to use from the comics.

I wish we could have got more of Adam Brody or DJ Cotrona because they look hot in the suit but I feel like they will only have like 2-3 scenes.

I mean, who thought it was a good idea to have a sequel for Shazam, the first one did great but it wasn't really a smash (Budget was 80-100 mill and grossed 366 mill and was before covid)

DVD/Bluray/Digital sales for it were even bigger. The movie was a very big success and people liked the first, so even I expected for this one to be even bigger. However, the trailer for the second one doesn't look as good as the first movie IMO and it's hardly been promoted at all. I'll be seeing it though.

I dont even think its about his political positions and quality that much. All of the studios got out of the way when Avatar 2 was released. They didn’t want to go toe to toe against it and lose revenue, so now we have an abnormal amount of franchises and mid-blockbusters returning in a short span of time. For years people were pointing out how both Marvel and DC were pumping out too much content and now that they are all too close to each other audiences are making their choices and prioritizing their faves. These B-list superhero movies will suffer the most, because they’re expensive to make and promote, but they’re not faves. At least they can try to make the money back via streaming and merchandising…. But Avatar really messed up the schedule for other studios and they need to get the message before A3 drops

I lowkey hope it also means audiences are getting tired of spending their money on easy cashgrab sequels that add little to the OG, but I’m not that helpful. These studios forgot quality control a looooong time ago

I mean, many saw no point in the movie at all considering the DCU reboot incoming by the end of the year.
