Miley's constant re-invention has helped with her longevity. Agree?

Featured Replies

Her risks and re-inventions don't always stick with the GP, but when when they do stick, the results are MASSIVE.

Congratulations to the most versatile ex-act! :clap3:

It helps in terms of the potential to snag a hit even when you haven’t in awhile since you can adapt to trends or create some of your own, but it really hurts the strength of her fanbase when she disses her own sounds.. people are less inclined to stick with her if 1. She’s constantly changing sounds and 2. She’s trashing the very songs/albums  that some of her fans adored. :nicole:

I don't like that she constantly shits on her past albums, but I do appreciate how she's always evolving. It's one of my favorite things about her. I just wish she'd stop trash talking her past albums :rip:

Why do fans even care if a singer says they don’t like a past album?

As long as you like it yourself, does it even matter what the singer says about it?

Na it's the same with Christina. Always a reimagination every album until something sticks. Many genres were attempted until she finally hit with flowers

I don't have a problem with artists not liking some of their past albums. I don't expect them to like everything they've done until the end of time. That's unrealistic. It's just Miley's cycle that's annoying. She puts out a new album, then trashes the previous one. Rinse and repeat. No other artists do that. It's not a deal breaker or anything, I still enjoy the albums. It's just annoying to hear after every era :rip:

I literally cannot wait until her interview 3 years from now when she says “Flowers wasn’t really me, I feel like I was being fake”

Cause she says it every album cycle making the previous album cycle where people show support seem like a waste of time. I hope that answers your question?

even if she spent the last 10 years N/A she also had a huge career pre-Bangerz and has been around for close to 20 years in the mainstream now

What’s a waste of time?

I don’t follow, if you enjoy the music how is it a waste of time if the artist doesn’t like it anymore?

Most movies are written by people who don’t care about or like the movie but are writing it for the money. It doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a movie.

y'all do too much with her saying she dislikes some of her previous work. she hardly had any control over her output pre-bangerz and the sole purpose of younger now was to rehabilitate her image. nobody even likes that album anyway so who cares?

i don't think she ever actually said anything bad about bangerz, just that she disliked the hiphop community. she hasn't said anything bad about dead petz, she is coming or plastic hearts either.

because she constantly goes back and forth how "this is the real me" and then next era trashes the old era and says the same thing

which is hypocritical considering she used the hip hop community for her image

How did she reinvent herself this time? She literally just looks like a normal person

yes that's a problem in itself but that's not her trashing the album like people say she does every new album cycle

Music is a lot more personal than a movie. A movie is, often, just a cash grab. It’s a visual story comprised of many different actors, directors, producers, contributing minor parts to a major project.

Music (and literature) are -often- one individual’s emotional experience of creative outlet for a journey they want others to feel engaged in and connected to. People love feeling like someone knows how they feel, so they know they’re not alone in their pain, joy, heartache, sadness, etc.

If an author wrote a series and, after every book, claimed that book was not really something they wanted to put out, it would feel like they’re sharing stories that they don’t feel connected to, and it makes it less meaningful for some people who originally felt like the author was writing a story that they resonated with.

I probably didn’t articulate myself very well but to reiterate: a lot of people find joy in knowing that someone out there is sharing art that speaks to them on a personal level. If the artist is detached from the art, the connection is severed and the experience is less significant for the consumer.

It's just annoying. So the fans complain. They don't like that or wanna hear that after they learned every word on that album she's bad mouthing that she previously said is the best thing since slice breas. Standing by your work is a better attitude. This should answer your question and clear your confusion?

What longevity? She has been flopping for 10 years. She deserve this smash hit though but not re-write the story
