Why cast Trevante Rhodes when you have Michael B. Jordan who had just became a bigger name a few months prior due to the success of Black Panther? He had more demand. Film executives went with the latter choice.

He literally went from Bird Box to Oscar winning Moonlight. How his agents didn’t capitalise on the success of these films is beyond me. Now he’s doing a Tyler Perry film with Kelly Rowland?? What?!
