Lorde teased an earlier album release a few weeks ago. Now, she’s announced as a headliner for the Boardmasters Festival, happening in August of 2023. The thing is, the Solar Power Tour officially ends in march and Lorde doesn’t really do festivals outside of album cycles. L4 really coming?

Doubtful, maybe a new song or two this year but I don't see a full album until maybe this time next year.

We’re not getting the album this year. I bet my life on it. (Plz release, Ella!) 

I hope she re-releases SolarPower just so it gets the recognition deserves!!

It's actually so close to March it looks more like it's an extension of the SP era

Lorde did Coachella 2 months before the Melodrama release in 2017 so perhaps a late 2023 or early 2024 album is possible.

 

There was also an announcement in May 2021, that she would do Primavera Sound 2022, even though there had been no official announcement of the upcoming Solar Power album at that stage.

 

Unless it was Glastonbury or something major like that, I wouldn't have though she'd do a festival outside of an album cycle. If she is going to the UK and doing a festival in August, I'm sure she is going to be doing more festivals that summer. This is probably just the first to announce the line-up.

That "Anything could happen. Let’s see!” to me sounds like "Not this year but maybe next year" tbh

I've said it before but she must release this year or jan 2024 at most. after that the ship will be long gone.

Lorde should put out a cute little EP or something, IDK, it doesn't always need to be a whole album era with promo and tour etc - just do something cute. Like yes we got the te reo Māori version of some songs but like... we need fresh new songs. I must say the tour did bring to life Solar Power a bit but still, "Big Star" did not need to be sung to an arena full of people.

Sometimes you have 2-3 acts still in negotiations for Glastonbury or some other big festival and when the contracts are finally signed, then everything else falls into place and the other festivals can finalise their lineups.

 

I wouldn't be surprised to see more announcements soon.

 

Interesting to see Little SImz in both lineups.

 

 

Late last year Lorde was praising No Thank You in her instagram comments - in hindsight, it's likely that she already knew back in December, that she would be performing at some of the same festivals as Little Simz in 2023.
