‘Mother was robbed’

More like gay stan/film twitter :skull: Doubt the average British viewer cared.

Cate Blanchett was always going to win this one, unfortunately Yeoh happened at the same time of one of the most acclaimed performance ever by a legend like Blanchett that has already swept Venice, Trifecta and everything relevant she could won acting wise, Yeoh last hope is taking SAG.

It is British, so not surprised :gaycat6:

Hopefully Oscars won't be like this

This is so British :skull:

Of course Cate deserved, but I wouldn't mind Michelle winning.

I want Michelle to win, especially as EEAAO is the better movie, but I don't think there's much to complain about here.

Cate's performance is insane. Maybe the most demanding role I've ever seen. It's not fair to claim she's winning because she's white:skull:

There were 3 non-white nominees, so the optics look bad that they still couldn't award a winner from those. But it's hard to argue that Cate's performance wasn't deserving. This isn't a Rami Malek in that awful karaoke movie type of situation.

There are literally only 4 acting categories...not 75.

At this point just create a cerimony with no nominations and with just the list of the best 25 actress of the year made by the journalists without even watching the movies and that's all. Cause the discourse is getting dumb.

Cate Blanchett is just superior.

All the winners being white -- after they overhauled the nominating process -- is the bigger issue.

Maybe the POC they add in the Academy are competent people and artists so they just prefer TAR to Danielle Deadwyler's lifetime tv movie looking movie.

Tar is my favorite movie of the year but I don't want Cate to win

Michelle is less likely to get nominated and win again just like most POC artists. Cate on the other hand is getting nominated again no matter what.

The fact that you're dismissing Danielle's critically acclaimed performance in a "lifetime tv movie looking movie" says all I need to know about you. There's a reason why BAFTA overhauled its nominating process and why there's backlash to all the winners being white.

it's the austin bulter win and Quan snub for me :deadbanana2:

Was it really a snub when pretty much anyone who has been paying attention to the race knew she was the most likely winner :michael:  I feel like most people acting like she didn't deserve probably haven't even watched the movie.

The real issue here is Butler winning over Colin, Ke Huy, Paul, etc.
