Roman Holiday Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 It was cute in a Saturday morning cartoon way, and imo that’s not a dig. I had my milk duds, sour candies and large Diet Coke so I had a good time at the cinema.
bionicpeanut Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 GP continues being tasteless when it comes to films

Everyone can enjoy whatever they like. If it's not for you, don't watch it and certainly don't go into threads to call people 'tasteless' for enjoying something you don't. So weird.
chris1991 Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Nice. Will it have legs though. I saw the post credit scenes on tik tok so I no longer need to see the movie!
Taylena Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 So much for Marvel apparently being over and the movie labeled rotten by critics.
Hector Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Nice to see Marvel win & ATRL lose again. Admittingly this wasn't one of the best Marvel films, but Paul Rudd & Jonathan Majors did both serve in the movie.
mystery Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Lifetime gross in China will probably come in under the opening weekends of the first two. Safe to say they seem to be abandoning Marvel.

They’re not over but they’re clearly in a creative slump and it’s starting to affect box office. GOTG3 and The Marvels better be strong if they want to course correct. They can’t just rely on big first weekends, because that will always be mostly hardcore fans. Edited February 19, 2023 by Roman Holiday
Hurem Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Hope it suffers a 70% drop in second week watch me lose tho
Zoe_ Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 (edited) Jeez! This film is another one that critics hated but fans loved. Edited February 19, 2023 by Zoe_
Pink Ranger Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 I actually really enjoyed the film, if Love and Thunder was able to be “fresh” and this wasn’t then I don’t officially trust rotten tomato the film had it faults but it’s by no means as awful as critics are saying, it’s not top tier marvel at all but it’s still better than the other two antman films.
Bethenny Frankel Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 not it BARELY crossing 100 million and y'all calling this a hit lol

Gorjesspazze9 Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 once again Marvel proves they are perfectly fine

zoldyck Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Love and Thunder failed to outdo Ragnorak, Wakanda Forever failed to outdo Original and this will be no difference. I believe same will happen with GOTG3 and Marvels

Why would you celebrate China purposefully not embracing a company for its pro-LGBT views? 9 minutes ago, zoldyck said: Love and Thunder failed to outdo Ragnorak, Wakanda Forever failed to outdo Original and this will be no difference. I believe same will happen with GOTG3 and Marvels This has more to do with movie-theaters no longer being at their peak and a war happening that has skyrocketed inflation. Minions, Avatar, Disney films, Pixar films, etc. have all shrank in box office, too. Plus, what matters is merchandise for Disney/Marvel. Ant-Man will never be big for them there, but GOTG, BP and Thor all did massive numbers there.
BNF91 Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 (edited) Actually it is a $104M 3-day and $118M 4-day. Which is once again, completely whelming and actually the 4-day is below expectations. A global $225M bow ($55M less than pre-weekend forecasts, $20M lower than Ant-Man 2 also) would mean the most this could make is like $550-560M. Under Ant-Man 2 is a lock. Under the first Ant-Man is also not impossible. For the introduction of the next Thanos level antagonist and start of phase 5... Not sure how ya'll spin this as good? Coming off an inflated Sunday (President's day holiday wknd) guarantees it. Films that release on this weekend (which inflates the debut a bit) only have like 2.2-2.4x multipliers from the opening weekend. Combined with the debut weekends of MCU films being very presale heavy, and yeah it will be a big drop regardless.
Cloudy Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 The public run to see Jonathan Majors fine ass

Let them cope Avatar 2 surpassed the first Avatar, Endgame, etc. in multiple countries so it's not like it's the market's fault
