Joyride Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 Is there a place that actually supports trans rights? I'm actually terrified to do it here

Trent W Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 I’ve lived in San Francisco and New York and they are very safe places for everyone in the community. I think that metropolis or big cities are always going to be safer and more diverse. Ignorant people have the tendency of staying in small towns or cities and they are uncultured and closed minded because they are rarely exposed to people who are different than them

The safest places are Germany, New Zealand, Malta, Canada, and Netherlands. There might be a few more. You want to go to a country that is actually safe, and has good social nets.
Communion Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 If you live in America, ErinInTheMorn has a resource here for the best states to live in if you're trans based on legal protections and safeguards for access to healthcare, etc. Quote California Colorado Connecticut Hawaii Illinois Massachusetts New York Oregon Vermont Washington Washington, D.C.* Transgender people in these states are better protected culturally and legally than in other states. States like Hawaii, Colorado, and Washington maintain explicit transgender healthcare policies that cover surgeries that often go without coverage in other states. Washington, D.C., Massachusetts, Connecticut, and California are currently considering policies or have passed policies that protect transgender refugees fleeing from other states. Other states in this category like Illinois, Oregon, New York, Massachusetts, and Vermont maintain a strong history of transgender protections and show yearly legislation proposals to further protect transgender residents. As well:

Joyride Posted February 18, 2023 Author Posted February 18, 2023 I really wanna do this in Canada but I don't know where or how to even start
Leptine Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 I don't know where you are from specifically but doing that outside of your country can definitely require a lot of money, I think that is the real issue, it's really up to your economical possibilities, since already moving to another country can be tricky per se, getting a visa, find a job, then you have to find a medical team that follows you so you might need to pay for a certain health care and all the relative medical expenses. Like from that US map, it's not really surprising that California is one of the best State in the US to do that and live, but the costs of life is very expensive over there.
Alldeezy Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 I know a few trans people and are very comfortable and supported in my town so guess Australia is too. Always going to get negative people anywhere you go sadly but there are places who are fully supportive for it. Wish you luck
