one person told me that by the RIAA, Ariana must have sold more albums, can anyone tell me if this is possible? (i dont know a lot about it)

It depends on the ratio of free & premium streams with Nielsen. Free streams are weighed less. 

 

RIAA is divided by 1500 no matter if free or premium.

It's good - all of her albums are multi-platinum. It shows her consistency and power even with an album like positions that got minimal promo.

She isn’t an album seller but she’s consistent even YT which isn’t her biggest album sold 2M units and while ME was her biggest era she had a slow decline after but she bounced back with TUN.

Probably the only album seller that we have is Taylor, Ariana is getting her #s without lifting a finger which is very impressive, also, I don’t think that any of her peers will have that consistency (6 album over 2 million) and she is only one album away to become the 2nd female artist with the most albums over 100 weeks on the BB, she is tied with a lot of singers right now, but she have 2 albums at 89 weeks.

True she’s really consistent and her next era could do so much better

In what universe did positions get minimal promo?

I feel like Positions is too low. The singles' longevity made me believe it was closer to 3M... Maybe if she had release POV properly, it could've been there already. 

 

Off topic but YT being almost 2M confirms my fave's album from 2013 is well above 2M too.
