If the debut sold well on Columbia House record club,  it's eligible for Diamond. 

Christina Aguilera is at 9.75M units with BMG club sales included. 
 

Amazing considering the album has 4 commercially-released singles. 
 

 

Poor Liberation/Aguilera though. Both are great albums. 
 

 

I’m confused by her debut’s certification. Since RIAA certifies by shipments it should already be 9X Platinum considering the club sales

Her label hasn't updated the certification since December of 2000

 

It has been 9x Platinum for years based on pure sales alone and it's probably very close to Diamond by now.

Just give her that diamond certification already, it's painful to see her debut being stuck at 9.5M for how many decades now? 2?

Based on this update the TEA/SEA number is around 0.5 million so the total units must be around 10 million SPS so it's eligible for Diamond.

So, CA is still not Diamond eligible despite Fighters claiming it is. Even if you add club sales. Interesting.

The advertisement you posted happens to be from 2002. CA was never available during the first 2-3 years of its release. By the time it finally became available, club sales had pretty much died. So my point still stands. it probably sold an extra 5K copies or something.

 

It's clearly not eligible for Diamond no matter how many times Fighters lie to themselves. If RCA bothered to re-certify Back to Basics and Stripped for their respective anniversaries why didn't they do the same for CA? Who wouldn't want to be able to boast about a Diamond album?

 

It's okay though. Maybe in 8 years if those recurrent streams are anything to go by.

Why is second fanbase always perched? Anyway, debut will be certified diamond eventually, it still sold a lot.
