MoonGoodandHappy Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Are you the type of person who google their symptoms each time they feel sick ?
EtherealCat Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 yes, unfortunately it seems i have many complex, rare and incurable health conditions
gatito Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 i don't cause it makes me feel super anxious
Aristede Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Yes, as well as family members' symptoms. And I always look up different cancers to see if they match. I have a phobia of it.
zasderfght Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 (edited) I do. Sometimes it's outright necessary and essential, especially if you have chronic health problems like I do. For example, my doctors didn't even offer surgery as an option for acid reflux (which I struggled with-- chronic acid reflux, mind you), and if it wasn't for my research, I'd be taking all sorts of OTC antacids and my hernia most likely would have gotten worse. Thankfully my surgery has made me acid-reflux/hernia-free for almost 2 years. I'm also pretty sure I have chronic pelvic pain, however, my urologist keeps insisting it's prostatitis, despite my culture tests coming back negative. If it wasn't for me researching remedies for CPPS, I'd be in pain nearly all the time with no options. I finally found a PT that takes my insurance & specializes in male pelvic floor dysfunction, and it feels so great to have a provider that actually acknowledges and understands all my symptoms. I have respect for doctors, but because of their caseload and lack of time with each patient, it can be easily for doctors to miss something or misdiagnose a condition altogether. I've just gotten used to having to advocate for my health. It's annoying, but in a way, it makes me more informed & helps me stay on top of my health. Edited February 13, 2023 by zasderfght
Bloodflowers. Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Always. I could honestly become a doctor thanks to my excellent googling skills.
Subzero Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 I used to a lot and then I'd wind up sitting there at night when going to sleep asking myself how I'm going to spend my last few weeks/months since I clearly have a terminal illness because google told me so
XxxKatyCatxxX Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Yeah, during the pandemic. I didn't wanted to put my foot in the hospital. Google really helped me that one time.
popmusicisdead Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 i used too when i was young. age 13-14 i used to get really bad panic attacks because i thought i had some rare, incurable disease. it was my passport to the wonderful world of prescription medication
