And singles have much bigger reach than albums when it comes to monthly listeners. If a person streamed Midnights, they most possibly listened Anti Hero but many people who listened Anti Hero probably didn't listen Midnights. 

Miley's listeners won't skyrocket when she releases her album either because it won't have bigger reach than Flowers. 

Of course releasing 5 albums in the span of 2 years helps build monthly listeners.

 

In the Lover era Taylor was smaller than Billie, Ariana, Rihanna and Dua lipa in streaming. She wasn’t the force she is now.

 

She released several albums of several different genres to attract a wide amount of diverse listeners.

 

Which is genius, but Miley did it all with Flowers. That’s why this is so impressive.

 

And albums always trigger a lot of new listeners when released. They always skyrocket to lots of mainstream artists.

Not really, releasing a lot increases the number of streams but monthly listeners is 100% related to playlisting. Having one huge song that is at the top of every playlist is better than having many smaller songs because of the overlap in terms of listeners.

Miley has been the only one to give this insane jump tho, other artists having massive hits didn’t achieve this.

 

Flowers is shaping up to be one of the biggest tracks all time, Taylor arguably has never had a hit this big.

 

We still have to see how it does in the long run, but Miley deserves her credit for releasing a song this big.

There's nothing frontloaded about Midnights especially compared to Reputation. It's Taylor's most stable album since 1989
