I am literally going through this EXACT situation. It is destroying my life... The only thing that helps me is taking xanax before bed, but I too am building a tolerance to it.

Took a sleeping pill again this night at 22:30, woke up at around 3:00am so by the time i finally fallen asleep and woke up again is between 2 and half to three hours. Turning off my phone now and let's see how the rest of the night goes. I have exam tomorrow for my university.

Can you let me know how Ambien first felt when you took it? And what dose were you on? Obviously, you need a prescription for it, but have you ever sleepwalked on it? Is it like taking Xanax?

Nothing, my first pill felt like nothing. I was just relaxed and a little anxious but more relived that I was taking my first step to gain back my sleeping time. I had no side effects and no Ava Max - Sleepwalker.mp3 thankfully. Just my vision was blurry when I was looking at letters at far distance but this could also be because I have been having poor sleep for months and blood underneath my eyes naturally didn't have proper transition so that might not be due to pills + I should be regaining it back over time as I get my quality sleep back. I also never took Xanax so I can't answer that question. I got prescription for my doctor who just said I should take it for few days (didn't give me exact number so I went with 6 nights in a row before I stopped using them). It worked for me but I have had 2 occasions where I had to wake up early in the morning and my stress over not having enough sleep kicked in and I messed up my sleeping schedule all over again, hence why I am back on pills again until I can fix it again and then I will switch to melatonin this weekend. I plan to take tonight my second sleeping pill and tomorrow my third pill in a row and then I'll see if I will take my fourth and final before switching to melatonin or stop at my third after tomorrow.

Thanks for the description, sis!  I might do a sleep study if my sleep continues to be abysmal.

Night two. Took a pill at 11pm and I'd say around midnight I have fallen asleep but then I woke up suddenly at 2:30am and instead of trying to sleep I made myself think about future creative scenarios of my fave TV show :deadbanana2: at least I wasn't stressing myself out anymore but being thinking of fun or creative stuff can easily keep you awake as having anxious thoughts. I fallen asleep in the morning again and was still till lunch time. Thankfully I am not working anymore and don't have university today. Will go early to sleep tonight!

yeah since COVID (2020/2021) my sleeping has been off. I have periods where I sleep well and other periods where it’s an issue. I’ve heard a lot of mixed things about melatonin including people getting nightmares or taking it so much that it stops working OR taking it so much that now their body can’t sleep without it which sounds like a nightmare. I’m not a big fan of sleeping pills but I also don’t knock anyone if they get to that point, sleeping problems/insomnia is no joke and truly sucks.

Meditation and yoga has helped me a lot but I know that doesn’t work for everyone… it’s one of those things you just have to try to find what works best for you because everyone is different and some people have insomnia more severe than others.
