Haze Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 In Europe, BOTW and Smash have always been €70. I think it applies to content and development heavy games, and that's fine. We have permanent vouchers over here, so I can get it digital for €50 anyway. Tbh, I would love more flexibility in pricing. Some games at €40, others at €70, as an indicator of development costs. The way almost all AAA games play the same nowadays because they can't take risks with it is detrimental to gaming. It needs to adopt an already successful formula to gain profit. Companies should focus more on AA gaming with a reasonable price tag. At least Nintendo stays innovating in game design.
P!nk Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 I’m conflicted because the quality of the game will most definitely serve and I’m sure a lot of expense and hard work has been put into the development of it. However, the Switch is outdated hardware. As much as I love it, it is. It’s truly behind and is not next gen or even current gen. It feels like a slap in the face to charge that price when it’s not even on a new console to justify it. Serving £70 for The Last Of Us Part 1.
Cas Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 For a last gen, underpowered console, this is a scam.

Prices are increasing everywhere BUT yeah, game vouchers are a great option for those who prefer digital. I like to buy physicals so this is a pain in the ass for me. I’m not a big Zelda stan so I don’t mind waiting, but I’m dreading this happening to other first party games. I think you’re giving Nintendo too much credit for the pricing thing though. I don’t think they’ll be that thoughtful. It’s still going to be $60 for all 1st and 2nd party games with $70 being reserved for best sellers Nintendo fans will buy anyways. I think metroid prime is an exception, only because they’re already asking people to pay more for one game than they did for all 3 last time.
M!X Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Erm I do agree that switch hardware is garbage but I never understood this outrage about games being $10 more expensive in an era where everything is more expensive If you can pay $60 you can pay $70 come on now Also I poured 150 hours into BOTW (to be honest I did pay that game for half of price because I bought it as a part of the bundle with the console) and if the sequel is same size (and will probably be bigger) then it's actually worth it However if this game comes out and serves worse frame rate than BOTW then yeah we will have a problem

fountain Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 Not people supporting raising prices when there is a global economic crisis Nintendo does not need this money and it only negatively impacts the consumer.

No I agree, I wasn't trying to say Nintendo wouldn't be greedy. It's just my impression these AAA games keep developers in a chokehold and I would love for more first party games that are AA, with a more digestable price. If anything, I hate how Nintendo charges like 60 for everything and never goes on sale.
M!X Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 (edited) 1 hour ago, Katamari said: yes give us that logic I mean the other publishers do the same, everything is more expensive, Nintendo would be dumb not to do this especially because their games sell, I mean yeah sure it's MORE scummy from them because their games look and run worse but it's a good business decision and Nintendo fans will buy it regardless so.. it's their hardcore fans who should think about this, I personally do not even care as I rarely even play switch these days and the only time I will even buy something for Switch is when its only option available like with Zelda or Bayonetta since I know I will like those games and get hours of enjoyment so that $10 difference is irrelevant to me Edited February 9, 2023 by M!X
thatsmydemi Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 (edited) Wait, do people actually buy games for 60€ or even 70€? I haven't paid more than 47€ for a game in YEARS lmao I thought 60€ was like the "standard price" but they always go on sale even before they are out. Just check Amazon once in a while or any other store. Fire Emblem was sold for 47€ I managed to buy Digimon survive for 41€ Xenoblade 3 and Pokémon for €47 as well lol Animal Crossing for 45€ (and this was the digital version) And I can keep going Edited February 9, 2023 by thatsmydemi

The only console I owned (and I basically had almost every Sony and PlayStation hardware) where the joystick broke with regular use. Like, if I played on it as much as I play on my PlayStation I should've bought at least two more sets of joy cons. And let's not start on the actual capabilities of the hardware which are outdated of at least 10 years.

I stopped using Joycons (second pair btw) and only use the pro controller because the drift was so bad. Nintendo refuses to fix the problem for some unknown reason and I’m shocked they haven’t been sued for it.

Second pair for me as well, the drift was so bad I had to buy new ones to keep using the console. There was actually a class action lawsuit against them for it, but they managed to win it just a few days ago
