I need this short song thing to end, stop blaming tiktok and short attention spans and just say you're not creative enough to come up with a fitting new verse/bridge, so irritating (this is to everyone not just Chloe's writers).

Excited to hear the new song but damn...

She has two verses + a bridge.

It’s already been released in a few countries?

I’ll check it out. I wasn’t too keen on her direction after Have Mercy. I am hoping this is better.

Oh, this is much better. Well done, Chloe.

The production is on right on the verge of sounding outdated though. The gospel elements and the writing saved it.

This isn’t single-related but Columbia should have stopped her from branding herself for her debut with red locs, considering Halle and the film this year.

I’m not impressed by this song.

I think someone else said this will help with repairing her image to some people who felt she was doing too much (I agree with that).

What I don’t like is that the harmonies are TOO much. Like it needs to be used more sparingly to create a build up effect but I guess because it’s 2 min long, they wanted to jump right into it.

The vocals are fine, there’s CXH tracks that have better more interesting vocal performances. She’s definitely in that Jazmine Sullivan type area with this one sonically.

This sounds like an album track so I hope the next drop is the proper “radio single”. Still I think a lot of people will be surprised, this sounds nothing like her other solo music or even 95% of CXH stuff. The album era is taking a whole new direction for real.

I agree with a lot of this. The song is just ok.

there is just something she does with her the production that is an issue with every song she has released so far. its just too much harmonies and completely overshadowing the production with her voice. i feel like i cant properly digest the song. its a cute song and it has an interesting melody but idk if this is giving lead-single. its not necessary to do harmonies on every single word you sing.

i think it’s nice but she should’ve left it as an album track and released a better song as a single instead :rip:

The harmonies MADE the song tbh. It's a play on the "take it to church" lyrics and I like it. It's quirky in a fun way

Her pen is so weak for her solo material, I don’t know why cause she eats with CxH. I’ve only heard the snippet but really “**** *****” and “triggered”? Basic and corny Chloe

The song is nice but clearly the first intro track / interlude / segway into another track (like ENERGY).

Not the dramatic emotional ballad the cover gave (at least I thought it would give that anyway)

Hope this does the musical damage control it needs to do for her. Now let's get to the real music

this is fantastic but this is an album track level, not a single

I can see it being a cute hit for spotify playlists though

I just heard the song in full. It is her best song to date, nothing like any of her previous songs. I don’t know why some of y’all are saying it reminds you of SZA. It sounds NOTHING like SZA’s music at all. The song actually sounds like it is inspired by Jazmine Sullivan and has elements of gospel. It is very soulful.

!!!!! Totally felt the Jazmine Sullivan vibes here.

The ones talking about "too many harmonies" don't really understand R&B (or Gospel) music... Like, what are you saying?! Y'all are definitely used to these pop girls that serve nothing but dry, unseasoned vocals with no dynamic or personality.

Sounds nothing like SZA. I think it's really cool sonically, but the lyrics are horrid.
