I wouldn't say Moomoirs is poorly produced but it's for sure a product of its time, very heavy productions and a lot of bass. But no one can deny that the album is full of bops.

 

Einstein is the better album though.

Production on Memoirs and Charmbracelet is barely ... there, but it's  'in' those days I think and Mariah never liked big productions anyway, her albums post Motorola eras had minimum/sparse production.

Mariah went "sparse" right after her first album and it was a smart stylistic choice that aimed at highlighting the complexity of her vocals.

 

Production on Charmbracelet is top-notch actually. It's mellow but much more layered and nuanced compared to her other albums. 

Unironically, it's the vocal production that distracts.

 

Memoirs is just a 128kbps mess. Just compare, for instance, the grating finger snaps on 'Candy Bling' to the ones in 'Honey' or 'My All'.
