:ahh: keep saying it and maybe in 2047 you’ll get it.

Their streaming was equal on Xmas last year and there was a widening during other weeks with Mariah leading on every single metric.

Dude, Mr. Duff is actually a sane member compared to 90% of the catty ******* here. He is not a Brenda stan OR a Mariah stan. He stans Hilary and Demi as far as I know and he's been on this site for 17 years. There are plenty of other ATRL members to go after, Mr. Duff isn't one of them.

Anti-hero (+1)

Kill Bill will probably go #1 when the music video drops. Other than that, she might have missed out on her chances

really depends how Unholy and Anti-Hero stabilizes

I don't know what's so funny with my post? Is it funny to say that Brenda may be #1 next Christmas?

OT: Anti-Hero to probably come back to #1

It's funny bc it is what a certain base is saying every year, but they mean it in a negative way for Mariah.

We are all chart-watchers. It is exciting to see a close race for #1. People often root for the underdog. Not everything is a personal attack on your favorite entertainer.

This!!!

I stan Mariah and I would like Brenda to get at least 1 week at #1 with her Christmas classic too or Last Christmas which got a new peak this year

But some stans are so annoying and insecure and see every post as an attack to Mariah :deadbanana2:

The way AIWFCIY is going to be the longest running #1 by a longshot and will never be caught ever :toofunny3: It'll probably end up having 100+ weeks at #1 :dies:

Not Bloody Mary hitting #1 :jonny:(on bubbling :giraffe:)

There quite literally have been troll Brenda threads (and Twitter accounts) for three years from opposing stan bases and notorious dupes. That does not mean that all users are doing so with malice, but it’s been notorious and the reason so many Lambs are hypersensitive to it. Cut it with the revisionism.

Damn I was really hoping Underneath the Tree would make it to the top 10 this year! It will eventually get there, but I'm so annoyed having to wait for it to happen lol :monkey:

Wouldn’t it be (+7) :gaycat1:

1-1-1-1-1-1-6-7-9-8-1 is an iconic chart run, I fear :clap3:

The points difference between Unholy/Anti-Hero and Kill Bill is around 40 or more, based on these early projections. I personally don’t think the video will be what pushes her to #1, of course unless Anti-Hero/Unholy falls suddenly or the video goes viral and causes a big effect. With that big of a points gap it’s more likely it will go #1 a bit later (in a few weeks) whenever AH/Unholy are low enough for it to be able to compete and radio picks it up.

But then I wouldn’t be surprised if a new release (Olivia or Rihanna single or something else that would make a splash) blocks it :deadbanana4: That would be super unlucky, but she’ll probably have her week eventually before that happens.

SZA won't go #1 unless radio starts to play Kill Bill.

Her biggest streaming weeks were blocked by Christmas music. If she had released in January she would have easily been #1 for 2 weeks.

Again, this isn't SZA's fault. Ariana Grande was able to block all the Xmas music with ease just 4 years ago. We didn't have ANY Xmas songs going #1 until 2019 - 7 years after recurrent songs were allowed to rechart.

NO artist should be forced to just let December sit and be an Xmas zone only. This is why I'm happy Willow got the #1 two years ago.

I feel like it won't happen unless the established Xmas songs get omitted from charting

But that was then, and this is now, when contemporary music is incredibly weak and seasonal fads are extremely dominant. We are not going back to pre-2019, as contemporary hits continue to become even weaker, and Mariah literally just got the most consecutive weeks she’s ever gotten with that song, so her Christmas hit is only going to be even stronger in the future.

Artists need to get wise to that fact and just accept that 1-2 months of year are just going to be dead time. Releasing in December is foolish, unless you’re not a singles artist and are wholly irrelevant on the charts.

Estimated points for the top 2:  :deadbanana:

1    All I Want For Christmas Is You    361
2    Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree    357

Only 4 points of difference based on the numbers, and according to Billboard Brenda had more paid streams than Mariah, that's why she's #1 on Streaming Songs.

Wow, it was a tight race…

Maybe next year she could snatch at least one week at #1

Kill Bill would have had several weeks at #1 had she released in September (before Unholy). Same with Rich Flex. It would feel wrong if neither Rich Flex or Kill Bill reached #1 because their peaks were bigger than most of the #1’s from 2022. These are the Top 2 songs on US Spotify (with UIFY #4).

When radio refuses to play the Top 2 songs on Spotify (and drops the #4 song for no good reason), there’s an obvious problem.

Radio should be giving more exposure to songs people are actually streaming, not repeatedly playing old, past their prime hits like ILY and AIW.

So, streaming era artists can only be successful chart-wise, when they don’t have strong competition

When did Ariana do this? If you mean TUN, then that’s not a fair comparison. Charts were much stronger overall and Xmas music had not taken the massive impact it does now until 2020

xmas songs are taking up the biggest single day streaming records and you think other artist can compete so easily? not to mention these songs also amass a lot of radio points. It’s no competition

taylor literally had to pull out all soldiers to get Willow to the top. And we know that streams usually start off huge and decrease by the time radio builds

Okay, but what happens when we start having Christmas music in October, or even September? Are we supposed to sit around and accept 3–4 months of the year being dead time?
