Renan90 Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 (edited) SZA’s ‘SOS’ Tops Billboard 200 for Third Week in a Row Plus: Half of the top 10 are holiday albums, led by Michael Bublé's former No. 1 'Christmas' SZA’s SOS rules the Billboard 200 chart (dated Jan. 7) for a third straight and total week as the set earned 128,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. in the week ending Dec. 29 (down 29%), according to Luminate. Plus, five holiday albums populate the top 10 — the most in a year — led by Michael Bublé’s former No. 1 Christmas. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. The new Jan. 7, 2023-dated chart will be posted in full on Billboard‘s website on Jan. 4 (one day later than usual, due to the New Year’s Day holiday on Jan. 1). Even with the latest data tracking week reflecting four days after Christmas Day (Dec. 23-29), Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” holds at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart, reigning for a 12th total week. It leads for a fourth week this holiday season – the most over any Yuletide season since it began topping the tally annually over the holidays in December 2019. The song also becomes the second holiday hit to reign for four consecutive weeks, and the first in 64 years, after “The Chipmunk Song,” by David Seville & the Chipmunks, spent four frames at No. 1 beginning in December 1958. Carey’s “Christmas” leads eight festive favorites in the Hot 100’s top 10 – with carols infusing the top seven spots for the first time. One makes its initial appearance in the tier: Nat King Cole‘s classic “The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas to You),” up from No. 11 to No. 9, as the late legend ranks in the top 10 after an unprecedented break of 59 years, six months and a week. As the song debuted on the chart in 1960, it additionally completes the longest journey to the top 10: over 62 years and three weeks. The Hot 100 blends all-genre U.S. streaming (official audio and official video), radio airplay and sales data. All charts (dated Jan. 7, 2023) will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Jan. 4, a day later than usual due to the New Year’s Day holiday). Ger Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 Great numbers for SZA, and HDD off, Tay Tay is down to 106k Bublé's 'Christmas' Top 3
PopFan1996 Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 SZA increasing from the first prediction by 10k. I knew HDD was underestimating SZA and overestimating Taylor. Looks like SOS will stay at #1 for 4 more weeks at least. And with the deluxe edition coming with 7+ new songs... Seems like it has chances to become the most successful female album of the decade on bb200.
Klein Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 (edited) SOS is such a smash. SZA is going to stay #1 for a long time with those SEA numbers Taylor still doing 100k+ in her 10th week Edited January 2, 2023 by Klein

Not when first 10 weeks of Midnights overall are higher than any other album (male or female) Edited January 2, 2023 by FolkLover1989

Not sales. I didn't say " best selling" I said "biggest female album of the decade on bb200". More weeks at #1 means exponentially more points. More weeks in top 10 too etc.. But #1 specifically gets lots of points. So that's why SOS has a lot of chances to become the biggest bb200 female album of the decade due to it staying at #1 for more weeks.
State of Grace. Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 SOS rightfully stomping 10 weeks above 100k for Midnights

TalkThatRihanna Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 SZA is such an icon The way she managed to release two monumental albums back to back

Hmmm Then maybe you are right
Green Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 It's too early to talk about a female album of the decade. SOUR is far ahead when it comes to Billboard 200 points.

Feanor Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 If SOS can have just half of Ctrl’s longevity, and with these likely 7-8 weeks at #1, we might be looking at the female AOTD on Billboard yeah

Taylena Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 SZA can thank Taylor for not caring about Midnights after 2nd week and not releasing 3am vinyls. An album that is doing 128k in 3rd week even being close to be considered AOTD is a joke. I'm so done with Taylor!

Sure It looks like Anti Hero is turning back to #1 next week so Sam Smith might be a good next candidate for you. Edited January 2, 2023 by Artistofthedecade

How do you guys have this mentality when Taylor fans literally try and drag Adele any chance they get completely unprovoked Even that thread about Taylor and Drake having 6 albums above 500k units on the BB200 for 2022, one of the very firsts posts is “well looks like Adele was wrong and it’s actually Taylor whose the album seller” Like this has been nonstop since EOM/30
