I mean what are you gonna improve when the person behind the franchise is no longer? The film is at 800M and will end close to 850M... definitely would've done 1B with China and Russia. Cinema grosses are definitely on the low... and people with the pandemic changed their habits drastically. you can't say that a film that ended being one of the 25 biggest grosses ever in the US and will end up around #89-#91 all time WW is an underperforance... that is not realistic. They cannot be pulling avengers 2B grosses with every film... Okay so we’re going to pretend that MCU stans and box office predictors weren’t saying BP2 would be the highest grossing movie of the year? A thread asking whether Avatar 2 or BP2 would gross more money on ATRL earlier this year had more votes for BP2 compared to A: TWOW, but A: TWOW outgrossed BP2 in like one week, not to mention Top Gun 2. People weren’t predicted BP2 to underperform even with Chadwick’s death.
Gorjesspazze9 Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 (edited) Marvels average gross has been more now than it use to be😆 excluding thier peak years of 2018-2019 for obvious reasons. Docter strange 2 did way more than the first. Thor did more domestically than the last 3 films. Spider-Man did way more than the last 2. Black Widow, Eternals, shangchi released in the middle of a Global pandemic. Black panther did 300M less, but was Marvels biggest standalone film ever so even then it’s still a massive success for Disney. And its run ain’t over for another month. 🤣 Marvel is fine with thier $3B this year. Now if Kang Dynasty don’t make a billion then I would understand the concern, but Marvel is performing how they should post pandemic and introducing new characters Edited December 31, 2022 by Gorjesspazze9
Arcadius Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 I think MCU is still performing good (I mean every big IP would still kill for their numbers), however, there were stans saying DS2 and BP2 would easily clear well over $1B. Next year they should be worried though because Guardians is the only film I can see doing huge business.
unino Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 i don't know if this is a good thing or not but i think the superhero **** peaked before the pandemic and by expanding their universe and go all out on everything might be best in the long run.
Distantconstellation Posted December 31, 2022 Posted December 31, 2022 I hate that avengers experienced all that success. It should have belonged to xmen. Release an xmen movie already!!!! At least Xmen TAS reboot is coming this year, that's going to be a huge success. The anticipation is insane
Gorjesspazze9 Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 (edited) made nearly a Billion, had one of the most watch Disney Plus debut premieres and several months later still one of Disney+ most watch movie’s statistically 🤣 and people really thought This was the end of marvel. Wakanda Forever is the Biggest female led superhero Movie ever in America. Thor was one of Marvels most expensive movies to make and it still ended up making over $100 Million in pure profit, and one of the biggest films of the year. Edited January 1, 2023 by Gorjesspazze9
bijonse Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 Love and thunder was campy garbage that missed the mark like artpop op might be onto something
Gossip_Boy Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 The biggest problem is the lack of China. It’s what’s stopping some of the MCU movies from reaching a billion.
Underworld Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 Yes lack of China and Russia is whats blocking them for reaching a bilion. They have 2 Major phase 5 movie coming this year, so we will see how they will perform.
Rocket0212 Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 Wandavision and Loki are only good projects from this era. Both are not even movies. Dr. Strange is the last project I watched from Marvel and I'm not sure if I'm gonna return to MCU anytime soon. Boring and uninspired.
Young Volcanoes Posted January 1, 2023 Posted January 1, 2023 I wouldn't say so because Gaga rebounded after Artpop. It's only downhill from here on out for the Marvel universe. Especially since they've lost some of their most recognizable superheroes/actors
Scarlett Witch Posted January 2, 2023 Posted January 2, 2023 All I know is my girl Wanda brings in the numbers and the acclaim. The other flops in the MCU (barring the fine and delicious yet incredibly problematic Simu Liu aka Shang-Chi) are none of my concern; like someone mentioned earlier, if Phase 6's Avengers film doesn't make any waves, then okay maybe just cancel the whole thing altogether, but I don't think it'll flop. People still enjoy the content and are eating it up, regardless of quality or lack thereof
