Why was Incredibles 2 so huge..?

At the time of its release, it had the eighth biggest opening weekend of all time and joined Titanic, two Avengers movies and Jurassic World in the $600M+ domestic gross club

It's also the 3rd highest grossing animated movie of all time globally, only behind Frozen 1 and 2.

Why?

The superheroes aren't from Marvel or DC and the Toy Story and Finding Nemo franchises were seen as way bigger Pixar brands at the time.

When it’s right, it’s right :giraffe:

Because it's the sequel for one of biggest animated movies of all time. I'd say Incredibles is more relevant than Finding Nemo today

To me, millennials had being waiting for a sequel since 2004. They went, and brought their kids. Boomers that took their kids probably then took their grandkids. The original was just that good.

OT: its a good movie tbh but i really dont think it's that good considering the success

GP wanted a sequel since the first one. tbh it deserves a sequel more than Toy Story OR Finding Nemo.

I hope the 3rd one is a time jump when the parents are older, the children are adults and baby Jack is a teen.

Why did they draw him like an animan cartoon :bibliahh:

it's iconic and i watched it in theater b/c i was bored. perfect timing and no huge competition, good reviews, children and parents and everyone else (young adults who watched it as kids) could tune in so huge demographic appeal.

It definitely deserved the sequel, though I honestly feel the movie is overrated :emofish:

I was so disappointed in the movie. It's probably one of my least favorite Pixar films. :priceless:

Because the first one is a huge classic, Pixar is on a downward trajectory though.

As others have said it was because of the first one. Shame it sucked :michael:

Yeah, it was because the first was such a great movie, excellent storyline, funny and gorgeous visuals (like the Island). The second one was AWFUL.

I mean ….. Look at the material from the original

We should also acknowledge that it released right in between the duo mega blockbusters Infinity war and Endgame. It was profiting off some of that MCU/Superhero hype at the end of the 2010's.

because its copy and paste from the Incredibles 1

Incredibles was a 2000’s animated classic, and is we who grew up on watching the DVD a million times support it. Remember how much social media traction it got when the trailer dropped?! It deserves its spot. Most people agree it’s not just a animation classic, but one of the best superhero films in general

Elastic Girl, that's why. :gaycat5: She is the lead, after all.

nostalgia + good movie

It came and went. All of the Pixar sequels of that era (Finding Dory, Incredibles 2, Toy Story 4) smashed but left no impact.
