Hector Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 (edited) Quote Multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 is not moving forward and is considered dead in its current incarnation. Sources say that Jenkins recently submitted her treatment, co-written with Geoff Johns, and that Gunn and Safran, as well as Warner Bros. Pictures co-chairs and co-CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, broke the news to the filmmaker, telling her the project — as it stood — did not fit in with the new (but still unfolding) plans. Jenkins directed and co-wrote the previous two movies, starring Gal Gadot and released in 2017 and 2020. No decision has been made about next steps. And while costs are not a factor — insiders say that DC Studios will not have any overburdensome financial restrictions — the studio could end up saving tens of millions of dollars by not making the third installment. Gadot, according to sources, was on track for a $20 million payday for Wonder Woman 3 while Jenkins would have received $12 million. Those figures don’t include any possible backend bonuses. Warners had no comment. It is unclear how any future Wonder Woman movie, and Gadot’s portrayal of the hero, would fit into the new DC plan. In a bit of head-scratching timing, Gadot tweeted out of the blue a thank you to fans on Tuesday, saying she was grateful to be allowed to play the heroine and role model, adding, “Can’t wait to share her next chapter with you.” It was unclear whether or not the actress knew the project was being toe-tagged. I know Patty Jenkins was super disappointed in it going to streaming during the pandemic (though it delivered big streaming numbers in Christmas week of 2020). The public & critical feedback on the sequel was not good and the movie doesn't have much replay value compared to the first movie. I'm sure the Wonder Woman character will appear in more ensemble movies even though no more solo films look likely. Edited December 8, 2022 by Hector
@michael Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Wow, this franchise tanked so quickly. The first movie was such a giant hit.
ATRL Administrator Lee!! Posted December 8, 2022 ATRL Administrator Posted December 8, 2022 Cancel The Flash and release Batgirl.
mathekr Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Good on James Gunn for doing what should've been done ages ago and restart the DCU from zero
xrosup Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 The second movie was very, very bad that I don't feel bad about it
SweetTalker Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 The second movie was absolute trash and killed any hype for any more WW content tbh. Hope they can bounce back somehow

Hope they can bounce back somehow Bad movies get sequels all the time. And a character as iconic as WW has more than enough good source material to bounce back. They need to translate that into quality scripts, production, visuals and action scenes. A character like WW is too damn big to feel like a generic glorified super human xena, like the DCEU did. Her character and lore can and should be so much more.
MingYouToo Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 While WW2 was garbage I hope they understand that Gadot is the EMBODIMENT of Diana. Like, that casting is as perfect as the best of the best from Marvel Studios. Wonder Woman 1984 tanked because it had a bad rollout + was a bad film, but I think the solo IP deserves a 2nd chance. The fact that the first was a period piece and such a hit compared to CA:TFA and yet Marvel had faith in his solo trilogy potential, they kept going at it while the first film flopped and now Civil War is a 1.1.B dollar film. If anything, WW84 was a terrible film and not an indicator of how bad/irrelevant Wonder Woman is, she deserves to be as big as Batman/Superman.
G.U.Y. Gaga Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 The second was so bad but this could have been a redemption lol
Martyr Of Fame Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 WW84 was so bad that she lost two major blockbuster franchises (WW and Star Wars) in one swipe. That’s impressive levels of fumbling. EDIT: it’s also pretty embarrassing that they leaked that she just turned in a treatment when everyone had just assumed that they had quietly moved on months ago.

Assassin Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 we love to see it. ww84 was absolute trash, and gal is zionist trash.
Blade Runner Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 Gal Gadot, worst actress ever. This is her fault.
Dula Peep Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 the power of Kristin Wiig singlehandedly tanking franchises
Attitude Posted December 8, 2022 Posted December 8, 2022 But that flop Black Adam may end up with a sequel? I know WW84 wasn't great, but...
