Because the lyrics and glamorization of dying young were horribly received after the slaughtering of dozens of children at Sandy Hook.

I think because radio was spinning it at that moment, it seemed insensitive. 

 

However, Kesha didn't help her case either by saying that she was forced to sing those lyrics.

it was irrational and stupid, there isn't an explanation that makes sense beyond being overly sensitive 

 

it's not like she was singing about a school shooting, it was literally a party song

Pumped up kicks also got pulled quite a lot, but also die young was still one of the biggest songs at the time.

pulling it from radio at the time was sensible but they added it back only like a month later which affected cmons chart run  and kinda ruined the whole campaign

I don't know what movies were out back then, but although guns get glamorized in movies, there are barely any movies I know of where young people die of guns and the audience isn't supposed to feel sad about it. Die Young is different in that way. Although it's metaphorical, you're supposed to feel happy/joyful about the song. I'm not trying to say people's different reactions to movies/Die Young were 'right', but there's definitely a difference between a movie with gun deaths and a song using the phrase 'die young' in a happy, careless party song.

Because republicans used it as a way to distract from the REAL problem at hand. Anyone that supported having that song pulled from the airways is a literal moron. 

How is this even a question?

They don’t have the guts to ban guns so they chose to ban a harmless song about celebrating life.

how can we do something about a song that radio abandoned because a school shooting happened that caused the song to get cut and therefor it ended up falling down the charts 10 yrs later?
