solely based on personal taste, what decade do you feel like produced better mainstream female pop albums? the 2000s or the 2010s? And why?

Looking at the albums in the OP, I feel like the 2000s gave us more different options insofar as pop, whereas the 2010s had less.

 

The 2000s also felt like more of an "era" for pop and in the 2010s things started to shift, TRL was done...the industry moved into the streaming era and promo became not such an all-out thing, whereas back in the 2000s a lead single may be performer 8-10 times around the globe at various tv spots. So in that, the 2000s era had more to enjoy and felt more monumental.

 

Quality-wise, I think albums certainly started to get better, fuller, more considered in the 2010s, which is a good thing. The poptimism of that era gave way to a new standard.

It was more diverse in color, sound, and genre.

oh i just chose them from the top of my head. NFR is still freshly engrained in my mind + literally couldnt think of anything else

The 2000’s and it’s not even close. Even the greatest 2010 popstars broke out into the mainstream in the 2000’s. Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Kesha, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift, ect. They are all 2000’s Main It Girls. 

2010s only cause i lived through those and can actually remember them from my childhood days.

2000’s are the foundation of modern pop

just noticed how the 2010s have cleaner looking album covers

 

the 00s really loved their big fonts huh 

2000's. Pop music started going downhill halfway through the 2010's and didn't really pick up again until Dua Lipa and The Weeknd saved it around late 2019.
