I love Midnights and I’ve been streaming some of the gems on it. It’s a good pop album. But a lot of Taylor Swift fans only care about her success

A lot of the recent threads have been comparing her to Michael Jackson, Madonna, Celine, and Adele. I love the new Midnights album but if you wanna talk about success it will never be as big as Thriller, 21, 25, Ray of Light, Teenage Dream, etc… but its a good pop album. Stay in your own lane and enjoy her music. Every 5 minutes there’s a new thread trying to force Taylor as a legend. Enough

I don’t compare Midnights to those albums and I’m aware that lots of other people do. I hope you realize most of the people opening those threads aren’t Swifties. They’re fans of other artists trying to get Taylor fans dragged. The few Swifties that do open those threads do enjoy the music though. That’s my only point. If you’re not comfortable accepting Taylor as a(n upcoming) legend that’s fine. But don’t insinuate that discussing her success means you cant like the music. Two things can be true at once.

When people do this kind of comparison, they talk about overall career, literally no one opened a thread to compare Midnights to Thriller, stop lying  

 

By the way, TD was not even that big as an album, its total activity score is huge only due to single sales/performance

Difference is Taylor’s successful in streams, sales, touring, acclaim, and awards. Adele falls a little short in streams to the streaming juggernauts like Taylor, Drake, Bad Bunny, Olivia, Billie, Ed, Post, etc. 

Taylor is the only artist that consistently succeeds in EVERY single metric to the degree that she does. Drake falls flat in sales and touring, Bad Bunny falls flat in sales, Post falls flat in sales, etc. When we brag about Taylor it’s because she’s the most well rounded artist by a large margin. She tours on par with the biggest touring artists of all time, streams on par with the biggest streaming artists of all time, and sells on par with the biggest sellers *of this generation, she’ll never match the 80s and 90s pure sales spike*
