Britney Musical ‘Once Upon a One More Time’ Sets Broadway Debut

Featured Replies

“Once Upon a One More Time,” a musical powered by the discography of Britney Spears, is coming to Broadway in 2023.

The show will begin previews at Broadway’s Marquis Theatre ahead of opening night on June 22, producers James L. Nederlander and Hunter Arnold announced on Friday.

Hip-hop choreographers Keone and Mari Madrid directed “Once Upon a One More Time,” a fantasy that flips the script on classic fairytale characters. The musical incorporates dozens of Spears songs — including “Oops I Did It Again,” “Lucky,” “Circus” and “Toxic” — to revisit the story of Cinderella, Snow White and Little Mermaid with a feminist twist. After Betty Friedan, who plays the fairy godmother, suggests “The Feminine Mystique” as their next book club read, it sparks a royal revelation: there’s more to life than bird-made dresses and true love’s kiss.

But someone tell me here no modern pop girl has classic albums or classics music (No Britney, no Gaga, no Taylor, no Katy) expect for MAYBE 21 by adele.

We're surprised to discover theri music is always used at the center of musicals, productions and movies. If only they had classics just think what they could do.

i just know she doesnt want this

Why? There is already &Juliet a very successfull music both in New York and London now with a lot of her songs (it's a max martin jukebox musical).

Some of her songs are also in the Moulin Rouge musical on Broadway now.

Queen of Broadway!.

Best way to take money without doing nothing.

She’s gonna drag it for sure. :toofunny2:

But at least it continues to solidify the legacy she has. :clap3:

I predict ? a lot of audience members looking at their phones instead of the show once they get there.

Whose playing britney

It’s not about her life it’s just a musical that’s all her music.

The show’s Broadway debut comes as Spears — who isn’t involved in developing “Once Upon a One More Time”

She’s not involved. She”ll definitely be criticizing this :deadbanana2:

according to this deadline news sony was interest in doing a movie and Britney was involved as producer. But it was before the free britney so maybe she wasn't :biblio:

Anyway is not about her life, it's like Mamma mia for ABBA and has already been on scene on Chicago and Washington. Why she should be against something is a tribute?.

I know it's been awhile but she actually approved of the script and went to a early dress rehearsal in 2019 before the pandemic. It was originally to be launched in 2020.

It's great the she has 25+ hit singles to pull from.

I can't wait for her to debut her Tony award winning musical on her journey after her NYT best selling book and before millie bobby brown (Britney will deal with it) plays her in the late 2020s preferably 2028/2029 in an Oscar winning biopic of her life.

Right, not everyone has a career that goes beyond singles and features...Britney's catalog can hold a musical and actually a part II. not everyone has the range.

She was in NY in 2019 for a dress rehearsal and to read the script. There were threads with a pic or two about it.

post pandemic she's likely had no involvement, though.

I love seeing these kinds of things that celebrate her art, I really hope its good and that she enjoys it/gives it her blessing.

Guess you never been to Broadway, people don't do that & phones aren't allowed.

This is a cool concept. Moulin Rouge had Toxic? And perhaps another song. They sound great live.

The OBHs would benefit from getting fresh air and walking to the Broadway show to see iconic songs being used because she has a catalog of remembered hits. I'd pay for them myself. You are correct phones are not allowed but anyone can speak on topics they have no experience discussing.

I sure hope they get the 25 songs correct since she has alot of songs to choose from.

Man you swiftly obliterated them. :ahh:

I hope they don't go for the obvious Britney tracks I mean she truly has an impressive discography with many genres.
