Harry & Meghan | Netflix Documentary Out NOW

I dont think some of y’all read Megan’s interview - the one she was dragged for because of the Mandela comments - but she was developing a creative project for Netflix that was shelved. Harry and Meghan signed lucrative multimillion contracts with big companies, but they all want ONLY the tabloid-ish tea from the Royals. They’re kinda stuck in this position, and with Harry’s book coming up soon looks like they’ll be there for a while. Meghan’s Spotify podcast is the closest she has gotten to developing something that doesn’t involve the royals directly. We’re yet to see how these deals will move onwards once they have served (probably stale) british tea. now that the ex-queen is dead I highly doubt anything truly scalding might be coming up (unless the on-going online rumors are true and Meghan is divorcing Harry)

Yeah that family deserves that fame hungry couple who sell them out for money. Both sides are terrible

Harry is such a dumbass with the hierarchy talk :bibliahh:

People complaining bout them milking and exploiting the situation when the Royal family milked their colonies for centuries. They have to make money I guess.

the question is the way of them to make money - the way you try to compare banana to orange to justify this argument leads it to nowhere

Yeah it's how they make money and it still more ethical than how The Royal Family made money over the years. :rip:

Well it's not. Because they are still using Royal titles, so technically, anything they are doing now is still under the umbrella of the Royal Family. So the "ethics" argument doesn't come into it.

As long as they are a Duke and Duchess and Harry is a British Prince, they are still part of the same exploitative system that you are complaining about. Their titles are grounded in centuries of (unearned) privilege.

That's why this whole thing is so ridiculous and hypocritical. If they had dropped their Royal titles, then maybe a discussion on ethics might make more sense.

That's part of the reason I find it hard to sympathise with Meghan. You are using a title from a family that believes in BIRTH RIGHT PRIVILEGES and you are surprised they are racist?

I don't believe that we should be in awe of the royal family and give them special treatment so I don't care if Meghan doesn't receive the same special treatment.

My problem with her is she believes in consistency in a BAD way. Instead of believing nobody in the royal family should get special treatment, she believes EVERYONE (including her) is entitled to it.

Poor rich people, they have my pity

The way the UK media are reacting, you would think they filmed themselves dancing and pissing on the Queen's grave for the entire 2-3 hours. The hold that M3GHAN has over them is insane.

this has been a really interesting documentary so far. i'm looking forward to the rest of the episodes.

i had no idea about meghan's relationship with her niece. i'm glad they are still close despite everything that happened with samantha markle.

it's very obvious why. from what i've seen, harry and meghan are very much meant for each other and will be better off not being a part of the royal family.

Yeah this is tone deaf

I thought the Oprah interview was their last hurrah, they needed to vent and share their truth and they did ok cool

I thought they were gonna retire from public life or something :biblio:

I am completely EATING my words and regret making this post

They should've done this documentary FIRST and NEVER should've done the highly sensational and frankly, unnecessary Oprah interview (kinda makes me question Oprah's methods a little bit now especially since over the years, I kept turning a blind eye on the common criticisms of her celebrity interviews)

This was such an insightful and objective peek into British society, H&M's situation, and human nature as a whole tbh

I love the way they focused on the macro level of their situation, the current mood of the nation that played into and exacerbated the intense hatred towards Meghan, the systems embedded within Britain and the British press and less on criticizing the actual royal family if not at all

These really made me root and sympathize for H&M 1000x more than I ever did before I even watched Oprah's interview

I absolutely KNEW the appalling RACISM thrown at Meghan and her family throughout the years but I was still SHOCKED that what was shown even exceeded what I've read and heard about :biblionny:The GP immediately siding with Meghan's white relatives never sat well with me but WOW this is something else

All the racist headlines and articles with graphs backed by ZERO truths were just hard to watch WOW, just love that they really exposed the ugliness of the racism still deeply embedded in such an imperialistic empire to begin with

The fact that they literally had knives out for her and destroyed her life and then turned around to say oh look at her now playing the victim THE NERVE :deadbanana4:

Truly an eye opener, this was a million times better and miles more important than The Crown Season 5 :rip:

Unfortunately I think the marketing and trailer for this doc was too sensational and off-putting and clickbait-y much like the Oprah interview

But everyone who ever supported Meghan should give it a chance

The royal family really fumbled the bag with Meghan, in a perfect non-racist world, she would've SLAYED her role, she was almost a perfect and qualified candidate for the role

Her achievements and successes particularly with the humanitarianism are highly overlooked, even I forgot all about them after she got married :skull:

watching this just make me want the monarchy to be abolished even more. it's so ridiculous they're still around.

I've went back and forth on how I feel about everyone in this situation, but this documentary so far is pretty good and informative.

I still question how genuine they are at certain moments but you have to ask yourself if you could be fully genuine with cameras on you at all times.

I like them a great deal, but what exactly is the point of prolonging on their story? We know what happened already.

I think the Oprah's interview was enough already. They shouldn't keep talking about those people and just move forward.

They're really milking this :gaycat6:

And the fact that Harry's memoir is also yet to come...

I agree with the post above that they should've stopped with the Oprah interview.

Guys they need the money.

Harry signed deals with Netflix and Spotify after they exited the royal family hence Megan’s podcast and i guess this doc is the deliverable for Netflix. His mother left him millions though so hopefully he finds a more palatable means to generate sustainable income in future. Even the liberal hosts of The View called them out for this but they agreed to this years ago so i suppose its not as simple as reading the room and shelving the doc.

I really liked it :clap3: It was cool getting to see more of their personalities. Meghan saying she did a Medieval Times-esque courtsey when she first met the queen :bibliahh:

Very riveting & informative docuseries. Loved how they touched upon the UK's disgusting history with slavery & the commonwealth which makes the racism present in the British society today even more appalling. Especially among the royal family & the royalists.

I also hated how Meghan's niece wasn't invited because of her trash biological mother and the father staged those paparazzi pictures before the wedding. Learning about Meghan's relationship with her niece was refreshing to see.

I don't think she was ever the right fit for the role. Just look at her shock and confusion about curtsying to the Queen. Harry would have been better to choose someone more familiar with British life, not an actress and celebrity activist.
