It was a mistake as far as streaming stats go, considering 1989 would probably hold every streaming record & the #1s + WD would all probably be pushing 2b by now, but it was a huge help in SPS units for the album itself. Removing her music in spotify is bigger than her career stats apparently. If she hadn’t removed her music, there would be no discussion of streaming companies paying artists the compensation they deserve. Apple music would’ve not paid artists on the first 3 months Trial. Tidal wouldn’t been created with artists crying for control and such. She started it all. It has nothing to do with Taylor. Even before Taylor spoke out publicly, there have always been talks about the low pay from streaming, and that birthed Tidal. The rest I agree with.
