Severus Snape Posted November 24, 2022 Share Posted November 24, 2022 Basically what the title says. Months ago my explore tab on IG was a nice balance of fitness posts and meme pages. Aside from some map accounts. I've been using twitter more and more these days and left IG as my secondary app to entertain. Now it seems like the explore tab is trying to figure out how to catch my attention and its full of (hot) dudes accounts. I don't really want to open it in public. How can I reset that? ugo Posted November 24, 2022 Share Posted November 24, 2022 It's hard to do this. I removed the guys pic by clicking not interested on every of them. But at the same time if your feed is full of shirtless guys and you like or spend few seconds more on their pics, it registers as your interest and the algorithm will fill your explore section with men again. As you said this is useless. All you can do is unfollow hot guys. Literally. Even if they're straigth they follow other hot guys because of sponsorships, because they're interested in fitness, because they're friends and so on. When i see the likes on a photo with an hot guy for some fitness magazine every other hot straight men i follow is liking the photo. So if you follow them and they even like photos of shirtless guys instagram can only thing they have to bomb you with video and photos of shirtless or naked sexy guys. Clearly you are consciously (or subconsciously) drawn to them. What you consume is what they continue feeding you. My explore has always been hot guys but it used to be much more controlled, like shirtless pictures the person in the photo posted, guys who are actually my type, etc. Now it’s like literally just gay men simulating porn. Seeing random people you don't follow on Twitter and TikTok works but IG is more curated, it's the kind of app where you rly only want to see your friends or people you specifically follow. Brando Posted November 24, 2022 Share Posted November 24, 2022 The algorithm is very easy to trick. On your explore tab keep scrolling until you see anything other than a hot guy, click on that. Go back, keep scrolling, again click on something that isn't a hot guy. Keep doing that for a while and it will start serving you other things almost immediately. Algorithms are dumb and they just hole you in into something they think you like.
