Ethel Cain - American Teenager: This song is just TOO GOOD... the chorus is simply golden, it's the perfect pop song...

Carly Rae Jepsen - Talking To Yourself: Another amazing banger, possibly one of her best singles!

Yeule - Don't Be So Hard On Your Own Beauty: This is quite literally one of my favorite songs ever so you won for me :weeps: .t sometimes

Ayra Starr - Bloody Samaritan: It's cute!

Umi - whatever u like: Oh I really like this tbh! I listened to the album before and it was cool but I didn't remember it well so this was a nice surprise lol. But this group has some of my absolute faves from the year so I might not rank it very high

Yeule - Bites On My Neck: Lovely hard banger

Rina Sawayama - Frankenstein: Not one of my faves on the album but it's a bop regardless!

Allie X - Susie Save Your Love: I like the kinda distorted guitar part at the end but the rest bored me. Miss her old music

Hatchie - Quicksand: I love you Hatchie thank you for liking my Spotify Wrapped tweet and thank you sender for pandering as well

Ravyn Lenae - Inside Out: Very soothing song

Rochelle Jordan - All Along: Yess a slight 2021 classic!

Allie X - Devil I Know: It's certainly catchy but that's it

Adam Lambert - Velvet: It's alright

Element's Critiques

Amber Mark - FOMO: Bop bop bop bop bop. One of my faves of 2022.

Hatchie - Til We Run Out of Air: I've always found this album/song overrated. It's nice and pretty, but doesn't do much for me -- sorry!

SVRCINA - A Little Bit Like Love: I liked the pre-chorus! The rest was pretty uneventful. Will have to try another listen.

Ethel Cain - Televangelism: This is a very bizarre choice?? I'm--

Magdalena Bay - Secrets (Your Fire): It's a cute synthy time yup

Kylie Minogue - Real Groove: I remember bopping quite a bit to this album in 2020! I haven't revisited it too much since but I still liked this.

Magdalena Bay - Chaeri: This song has always just been there for me. I never understood the hype.

Sudan Archives - NBPQ (Topless): Ahhh yes this mega bop was on my shortlist! She ate so hard here.

Beabadoobee - Sunny Day: Cute and optimistic!

Rina Sawayama - Imagining: Definitely in my top 3 or 4 from Hold the Girl!! I just saw this live and I was so excited :duca:

Foxes - Sister Ray: Absolute bop whew. She had no right to make such a pop smash??

Amber Mark - What It Is: Another amazing song from 3DD. Truly one of the best albums of the year.

Weyes Blood - Grapevine: This is enjoyable! I connected more with Twin Flame/God Turn Me Into A Flower on this album, but this isn't bad at all.

Also shoutout to whoever sent Televangelism

             JULIA's FACTS

Ethel Cain - American Teenager: it’s far from being my fave on this album because it sounds like Need You Know by Lady A but well it’s still very euphoric and good so there’s that

Carly Rae Jepsen - Talking To Yourself: it’s fine. I mean it’s good but I’m becoming tired of Carly I mean her songs have been always had this retro vibe and they are starting to sound a little bit samey for me at this point but this is good enough to not be on the bottom

Yeule - Don't Be So Hard On Your Own Beauty: this is so beautiful! and it’s one of the best songs ever released recently

Ayra Starr - Bloody Samaritan: I’m not a huge fan of dance hall, Afro beat or whatever this kind of music is called. And this is no exception. Sorry

Umi - whatever u like: oh this is so groovy. Really liked this! Saved to my library btw.

Yeule - Bites On My Neck: this song is so sad. I mean it’s kind of a emotional trip through some really deep feelings and universe I mean this is incredible YOU ******* WIN

Rina Sawayama - Frankenstein: hold the girl was such a disappointment and so was this song. far from being the worst on the album or there tho

Allie X - Susie Save Your Love: I remember liking this less than I like it now on my previous listen. Now this is just ok. It has some nice elements but that’s it.

Hatchie - Quicksand: she’s really the new noisy queen I guess. Love this!

Ravyn Lenae - Inside Out: this is not my fave on this incredible album so I find this a bit underwhelming choice. It’s a good song though

Rochelle Jordan - All Along: love this song, love this album, love her!

Allie X - Devil I Know: this is so meh. didn’t like this at all sorry

Adam Lambert - Velvet: I love Adam but this record and this song were so disappointing for me. Sorry

FOMO - This was a pleasant listen.  Not the most gripping thing ever, but it’s cute.

Till We Run Out Of Air - The second best Hatchie song I’ve heard

A Little Bit Like Love - Sounds like a song Caroline Polachek would whip up in a couple hours, and then discard forever

Televangelism - ?. I’m not mad at it.

Secrets - She’s no “You Lose” or “Something for 2” but she’ll get the job done!

Real Groove - This is fine, but has always just been kinda there for me

Chaeri - She’s no “You Lose” or “Something for 2” but she’ll get the job done!

NBPQ - There’s a lot going on here. Some of it I  really like, some of it I don’t.

Sunny Day - this is cute!

Imagining - She definitely has worse songs

Sister Ray - This is solid, I wish it packed more of a punch at parts

What It Is - This is very excellent imo

Grapevine - Definitely something right up my alley

Round 3 Critiques ft. no special formatting cause I'm at work doing this :gaycat2:

Ethel Cain - American Teenager - I love this! for some reason I feel like it'd fit perfect in Perks of Being a Wallflower (I know this is a random ass comment but :ahh:)

Carly Rae Jepsen - Talking To Yourself - hmmmm.. it's cute. nothing much more to say - it's nowhere near bad though!

Yeule - Don't Be So Hard On Your Own Beauty - I'm not for the audience for this so.. yeah. :deadbanana4:

Ayra Starr - Bloody Samaritan - I actually really like this - dance hall is so well crafted, and Kelly sounds HEAVENLY on this.

Umi - whatever u like - a little drawn out but overall good!

Yeule - Bites On My Neck - again.. not really the audience for this. :deadbanana4:

Rina Sawayama - Frankenstein - oh big bop alert!!!! yes yes yes

Allie X - Susie Save Your Love - instrumental is the best part of this.. kind of lackluster otherwise.

Hatchie - Quicksand - can Hatchie do any wrong tbh.. slayed.

Ravyn Lenae - Inside Out - sultry vocals.. the instrumental.. yessssssssss.

Rochelle Jordan - All Along - cause I've been all OVER the woooorld. I loved this so much tbh. :gayriahcat2:

Allie X - Devil I Know - the vocals are nice but.. meh.

Adam Lambert - Velvet - a male in the sea of female entries. bit generic but it's cute and serviceable :gaycat3:

Amber Mark - FOMO: I'm not crazy about neither Amber nor this album but this is cute. The chorus is really good.

Hatchie - Til We Run Out of Air: QUEEN MOTHER.

SVCRINA - A Little Bit Like Love: she sounds like any other girl who became famous in the 2020s because of TikTok and this song is not good at all.

Ethel Cain - Televangelism: ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!

Magdalena Bay - Secrets: I prefer Chaeri but this is still godly. Can't remember the last time I heard this album but maybe I should get back into it soon. So good.

Kylie Minogue - Real Groove: Meh! I get the appeal but there are better songs on DISCO.

Magdalena Bay - Chaeri: SO. F**KING. GOOD.

Sudan Archives - NBPQ: Saw her last week and it was one of the best live shows I've ever seen - what a performer. Go see her live if you have the chance. One of my favorite songs released this year (and it was my first choice teehee)

Beabadoobee - Sunny Day: lovely album and lovely song.

Rina Sawayama - Imagining: a HTG highlight!

Foxes - Sister Ray: ERVNERUVNERBUERVFHBERYVGREBWMHTRVFNEDWMBTGEVGRN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amber Mark - What It Is: the other Amber song is better... x

Weyes Blood - Grapevine: one of my favorites from her new album. gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

Ethel Cain - American Teenager: Still not wild over this after the 3rd submission.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Talking To Yourself: This reminds me I still need to listen to her recent album. This song's just okay though.

Yeule - Don't Be So Hard On Your Own Beauty: Their "classic" & 3rd best song behind I Saw You In My Dream Last Night & Pocky Boy.

Ayra Starr - Bloody Samaritan: I really like this new discovery. Good vibes.

Umi - whatever u like: It's decent enough.

Yeule - Bites On My Neck: I like the explosive instrumental part but that's about it.

Rina Sawayama - Frankenstein: Her rock'd songs aren't to my taste. Not into it.

Allie X - Susie Save Your Love: Indifferent here but overall not bad.

Hatchie - Quicksand: Slightly grew off of me throughout the year but it's still the best GTWA single.

Ravyn Lenae - Inside Out: There's some good aspects here & the song gets better as it goes along.

Rochelle Jordan - All Along: One of my faves. Love the production.

Allie X - Devil I Know: Not strong at all.
