Don't forget dishonest narratives mentioning the support of palestinians to Hamas are popular talking points used to delegitimize the palestinian struggle here, but nervous breakdowns after the mere use of the words Azov Regiment are quite common on this board, not only among ATRL Ukrainians, let alone the criticism of them. The irony being that Eastern Europe has more historical antisemitism than anything anyone could ever pin on Palestinians through racially-coded Islamophobia. The sheer intellectual dishonesty by some to try and paint Palestinians as some uniquely antisemitic force while being from and more importantly *defending* the part of the world that largely brought their Jewish populations down to zero before German troops could even arrive is a bit.. weird. Like it's just extremely performative to claim to deeply care about antisemitism while allowing one's national identity to deny reality. Like there's an obsession over the idea of surrounding Arab countries not having Jewish populations, but neither do much of Eastern Europe, so why not offer up half of Lithuania then? Oh yeah, that was one of the places people were fleeing when deciding to go to Palestine (or Argentina and countless other places). Of course not every person who supports the existence of Israel justifies it through absolving European antisemitism or creating racist caricatures of "Arabic antisemitism!!!" but through other arguments (many I disagree with simply because as an atheist I don't believe theological thought promotes some legal destiny). The most cynical and frustrating part of this conversation though will always be European neocons who have waxed poetics about their countries being denied autonomy for over a century yet then devolve into the most racist stereotypes about "Arab barbarians!!" when justifying the Israel settler-colonialism project. Israel didn’t have to exist as a settler-colonial ethnostate, but because Europeans didn’t want Jews in Europe, they gave land that wasn’t theirs to give displacing the people who lived there for their Evangelical “populate the Holy Land with Jews to bring about Armageddon” project. What Israel has been doing to Palestine and Syria with their illegal annexations mirrors what Russia has done in Crimea.
