JBJT2786 Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Quote The annual spooky effect on moviegoing is forcing Black Adam to be -59% in weekend 2 with $27.7M, a hold that’s steeper than a few of Dwayne Johnson movies in weekend 2, i.e. Rampage (-44%), Skyscraper (-54%), and San Andreas (-53%), and some DC films (i.e. The Batman, -50%; Justice League, -56%), yet better than others such as Green Lantern (-66%) and 2016’s Suicide Squad (-67%) It'll be lucky to finish near 200M at this point in the US. It's currently at 250M WW. This is gonna be a bomb. 1.) Black Adam (NL) 4,402 theaters, Fri $7.5M (-72%), Sat $11.9M, Sun $8.33M 3-day $27.7M (-59%)/Total $111.1M/Wk 2 2.) mystery Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Black Adam had bomb written all over it, the same will happen for Strange Worlds.
vuelve88 Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Unfortunate, considering the way Dwayne Johnson appointed himself as the spokesperson and savior of DC.
X~MoviePoP Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Horror is the only genre guaranteed to make money

Imagine if Halloween Ends was made for 50-60M. It would've been deemed a bomb than a disappointment. But making these at 5-20M helps greatly. I'm betting M3gan with be the next horror success story.
Stan.killah Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 The movie is sitting at $250m worldwide. International markets will carry this to (small) profitability. The Rock is HUGE in China and Black Adam has not been released in China yet
zoldyck Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 it really will be blocked by Sonic from top 10 highest grossing movies of 2022

China has not blocked for it to be released there and Black Adam has a higher chance of being released soon more than recent Marvel films did. A China release could bring in $80-$100m easily. Bloodflowers. Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Not y'all celebrating the downfall of the biggest and most profitable black actor in Hollywood. It's getting weird. The Rock can only do San Andreas levels of box office smashery for panned movies, so this amount of charity work is amazing for DC. The rest is on people behind the scenes to blame for approving such a massive budget and uninspired film.

I see, I was talking about US. Either way, its look like Black Adam won't crack top 10 globally or locally, a disaster for DCEU
JustLikeHoney Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Who watches a movie on Halloween weekend?

Will Smith isn't in this movie ( can't wait for the ATRLers who jump in to claim the Rock is just Samoan when his dad is Black tho)
Broken Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Another BOMB for the DCEU, the NEVER-ENDING nightmare continues.
Gossip_Boy Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Smile nearly $100M dom. And to think it was supposed to be a streaming only release originally. That should teach studios a lesson because there’s a few more horror movies this year that deserved a proper theatrical release imo. And Terrifier is killing too as it should.
BNF91 Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Halloween Ends holy s**t.. the worst legs of a wide release in years. Won't even pass $65M, off a $40M opening weekend Black Adam showing no sign of good word of mouth or legs. With Wakanda Forever coming to smash records in less than 2 weeks and stealing all premium/IMAX screens from Black Adam, I fear the film doesn't have much left in the tank. If this doesn't hit $400M that's a disaster. To be frank, $400M was never acceptable with a $200M budget. WB will be losing quite a bit of coin on this.
Arcadius Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 I mean it managed to have less of a drop than other CBM so it'll probably end up around $150-$160M domestically and $400M globally.
Reverse Warholian Posted October 30, 2022 Posted October 30, 2022 Domestically, BA is doing decently considering the bad reviews. I was expecting a 70% or greater sized drop before I opened the thread. Halloween Bombs nosediving is a moment that is most pleasing to my career
