smoore95GAGA Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 I couldn’t remember if I had seen someone else do this before, but it recently hit me how similar these albums are. Both easily the biggest dance albums of their discographies, but which is better?
Bubble Tea Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Confessions, sweetie... Having just been subjected to a play through of Renaissance yesterday, what a noisy, melody and charm-less album. Me trying to explain what "drop it like a thotty" means to an English-as-a-second&-language speaker was a low point.
Great808 Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 The one that was fresh and completely original >>> the one that sounds like Lizzo rehashes and remixes
SlowGinFizzzz Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Hung Up vs. I'm That Girl Get Together vs. Cozy Sorry vs. Alien Superstar Future Lovers vs. Cuff It I Love New York vs. Energy Let It Will Be vs. Break My Soul Forbidden Love vs. Church Girl Jump vs. Plastic Off The Sofa How High vs. Virgo's Groove Isaac vs. Move Push vs. Heated Like It Or Not vs. Thique Fighting Spirit* vs. All Up In Your Mind Super Pop* vs. America Has A Problem History* vs. Pure/Honey -- vs. Summer Renaissance I voted for Confessions, but they're both among the best albums I've ever heard. I guess the main reason for my choice is that Confessions has already proven that it stood the test of time, but ultimately it doesn't matter that much because they're both 11/10 to me.
byzantium Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Easily confessions. But Renaissance is nice for a couple listens.
Chris Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Did we not already do a thread like this when Renaissance came out? Go outside and get some fresh air please.
Gov Hooka Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Very different ideas of dance pop music with different influences, but confessions is my preference.
John Slayne Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 the one with a number 1 single, Confessions

I said in my comment that I didn’t know if this had already been done before. Please read before making ignorant comments
dabunique Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 for me its confessions i haven't heard R in a minute although i still stream Cuff It & Pure/Honey regularly
Winged Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 (edited) One is white disco bible One is black disco bible both equally perfect and masterpieces Renaissance for me - many layers and production is immaculate Edited October 3, 2022 by Winged
DoubleRainbow! Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 I'm sorry but how are these albums similar? Confessions for me

Confessions for me Both are dance albums And like, dance dance albums. Only one sort of slower song on both, but other than that it’s bop after bop, and idk, to me I get a similar vibe from them. It wouldn’t surprise me if Bey was partially inspired by Confessions.
Holiest Dreams Posted October 3, 2022 Posted October 3, 2022 I don’t actually think they’re that similar besides the way the songs flow together. COADF is better for sure but it’s like an all-time pop classic in my book - probably not even top 5 overall for Madonna but in terms of the type of album it is. Definitely special. Renaissance needs time though, it’s way too early and unfair to compare a brand new album with a pop classic.

Blackout2006 Posted October 4, 2022 Posted October 4, 2022 I prefer Confessions for it's consistency Renaissance is the first project of Beyonce that I've enjoyed since Self-Title and the album is spectacular. However, I didn't like many of those rap-esque songs much which were 70% of the album. I hope Renaissance II has more disco and dance rhythms like Cuff It, Virgo's Groove, Pure/Honey and Summer Renaissance because THAT would be phenomenal Even more AHAPs would be slay
